Metal Concert outfit?
Permalink Closed

My boyfriend is taking me to a concert of a band called DragonForce two weeks. They're a metal band. I know it sounds crazy, but I actually like them! He's a musician and into a lot of different music; we're kind of having a concert weeked. (just saying, he's not some crazy scary metal guy). Anyway, I am definitely not a Metal Rock kind of girl, so I have absolutely no frame of reference for what one even wears to these things. I thought about just wearing a black t-shirt and jeans, but I don't really want to because I feel like that's akin to a little black dress - something I usually try to stay away from. Can anyone help me? Would this outfit even work, or would polka dots be ridiculous at a metal concert? (sorry for the little pic of the halter, it's all I can ever get from f21)

(it's kind of cleavage-y)

Or could I wear that top with jeans and sneakers?

Or are there other suggestions? I'm open to buying something, I need to go shopping anyway.

I feel crazy for asking this. But I can't lie, I'm sure I'll be pretty intimidated by the metal crowd.

As a huge metal fan that doesn't really look or dress like one, I've become used to dressing for the occasion when it comes to concerts. I think the shoes are a good choice since they will go a long way in protecting your toes from the moshpit (the entire room, esp. if it's a small venue, almost becomes one giant pit.) I wore ballet flats to my very first concert and it was big mistake.

Also, Do Not Wear a Skirt. Pants (esp. jeans) are your best bet for comfort and crowd management. When a bunch of people are pressed against you so tightly, you'll be very happy you wore pants.

I'd also say wearing something you really, really, really like might not be a great idea because it will get very hot and you will get very sweaty. My last concert was a Disturbed concert and I just went wearing a black tank top, jeans, and black converses and went very light on the accessories and it worked pretty well for me.

I'll look around for some tops that I think would be appropriate yet still cute and come back and post them later.

Hope this helps a bit!
