Forgive the color weirdness - I had to turn the brightness & contrast waaay up to get the pants to show. IRL they're a very inky blue w/no fading at all.
I'm not feelin' real comfortable working with these - I like the proportion better with the boots, but they look really bunchy at the knee (maybe I'm not tucking them correctly?). And I think I'd like rounder-toe flats better (these cut my feet anyway). What other shoe options could I try?
Thoughts? Suggestions on how better to work them? If they're not that flattering, I beg you to tell me.....
eta - fixed the pics

I think they're bunching because of the length maybe. I like them with the flats and I'd like them with the boots if they weren't so bunchy, a little bunchy is fine but these seem to bunch a lot. Is the denim stiff? Maybe after washing they'll tuck better??? Which brand are these?
The bunching at the knees isn't so great. I think that they look cute with your flats. However, if you aren't really comfortable, I would keep them for about a week and see if they grow on you. If not, then I would return them.
I think I like them, but maybe not with that sweater. The reason I say this is because I immediately thought "nay" when I looked at the pictures but changed my mind when I covered your upper half - it could just be the contrast that's throwing me off though.
Have you tried them with low pointy toe heels?
Can you try temporarily turning the hem under a bit to see how they would look a bit shorter? How long can you keep them for before you would have to return? If you try them with a few more shoe/top combinations and still aren't comfortable you should return them.
They are stretch, but I'm assuming they'd shrink a tad (maybe 1/4 inch?) in the wash. I did find some wider ones on purpose, so they are a little more bunchy, but without the bunch through the calf there is nothing to balance my thighs and I look atrocious. But that's one of my 'things' - jeans that are tight on my knees - so maybe I'll just have to skip the jeans-in-boots thing altogether.
Brand is Mixit petite, from JCP . So they don't come any shorter than these! They are already short enough that they're about 1/4 inch off the ground at the back. How much shorter should I go?
CC-I happened to already be wearing that tee and the sweater was the only slightly voluminous thing I had handy, but I agree that it's not a good match with the pants.
Halleybird - Yup, Vixen!
Since nobody said 'Good God return them right this minute, you're crazy!', I think I'll play more and see how it goes. Now if I can remember how to do the peg-roll ....

Elle- are they soft? what is the denim like? how is sizing? did you buy them online or in person? Can you post a review? I went to their description online- i like how they are somewhat higher rise. i think they look cute on you.
Lynnie - they're decently soft, and they're stretch so the denim is a bit thinner. They do have a slightly higher rise. I bought them in person on sale for $25, and I think they only have regular sizes online - not sure. They run pretty TTS - I wear a 2-4 at Gap and got a 4P in these and that's the smallest size they offer. They don't gap at the waist because of the higher rise, and they're more forgiving in the thigh and calf than all the other skinnies I tried.

do you think maybe they are too big for you? I agree wit the comment above-- the sweater may be throwing everything off-- I'm not sure if its the sweater or the jeans that maybe make you look a little hippy (I don't think you look hippy in any other pictures!)
