as far as handbags, I put them in their dustbags and kind of stack them... I also have a double shelf thingy on the shelf to stack small bags/clutches on.

My closet has some extra shelves near the door that are probably supposed to be for linens and towels. I use them for my bags. I keep them in their dustbags and arranged them on the shelves in size order, the smallest on the top and the largest on the bottom.
eta: If you want to save space, I recommend *not* getting stackable hangers. I have to rely on them right now because I don't have a lot of space and I *hate* them. They save a little bit of room but it's messy and makes it hard to see my pants in the closet.
For all my clutches and vintage purses, I hang them on my wall and use them as a decoration also. That may not work for everyone but I love it. It's convenient and pretty. It doesn't work for larger bags though - not sure of yours' sizes.
If it makes you feel better I took today off to attempt to clean my house. It's sad but true. Unfortunately I've done nothing but surf ST all day and make a pb sandwich. Yay for laziness!
You have totally reminded me that I need to clean my closet this weekend. I can think of three or four things off the top of my head that I can purge. How is your purge going?
I took photos of all my shoes and posted them on the outside of the boxes , so I could see them. Trust me it makes owning 200 pairs of shoes ALOT easier to see which pair to wear ...
Then I bought 5 huge plastic bins and put them on shelves and filled them with my purses ...
Then I bought stackable plastic bins/drawers and organized all my bras and undies (wheh that alot of undies!)
I also put in a rolling rack I stole from one of my stores just to make room for my jeans ---
And lastly the overview ( I am still working on switching all the hangers out to wood hangers ...
The sad part is - this is AFTER I got rid of 6 trashbags full of clothes and handbags ....
My husband said he is ready to converte one of our extra bedrooms to a closet for me - ahhh wouldnt that be nice!
Wow, looks great, like you really put a lot of time into it! I just posted a question about this in the HOme/Garden section, so I was really happy to see your pics. I have made the conversion from plastic hangers to all wooden hangers, ( I picked up 2 bunches everytime I went to Target) and am amazed at how "uniform" things look when they are all hung on the same hangers. I now have to figure out how to organize folded items.
Here is a question: do you fold your sweaters or hang them? I am always going back and forth over what to do.
