buyer who hasn't paid yet

I'm having another issue with a buyer not paying on time. Her payment was due yesterday, so I sent a message saying something like "Just a friendly reminder that payment is due today, or the pants will be re-listed. Please let me know if you are still planning to pay for this. Thank you!"

Her exact response was "I am having a problem with my PayPal account and have to call in
the am on Wednesday to resolve this issue. If you could wait to re-list these pants it would be appreciated. If you cannot, I will understand. Thank you." I got that this morning.

So I wrote back and said I would wait, but she hasn't responded. I think I'll write to her again tomorrow to ask if the problem has been resolved -- is that too pushy?

I don't think it's too pushy.  You're being nice and waiting for her, so I think you have every right to email her again tomorrow.

I'm in a similar situation - maybe you can give me advice.  I have a buyer who hasn't paid me either.  She won the auction Sunday and now it's almost Thursday.  I emailed her an invoice, to which I didn't get a response or payment, so yesterday I emailed her a friendly reminder and still have not gotten a response or payment.  She has not contacted me in any way.  I'm so pissed.  I don't know what to do, because stupid me didn't put any payment terms in my auction (I'm new to selling).  I know you can file a claim w/Ebay after 7 days right.  How would you handle this?  Sometimes I hate Ebay!

BTW - didn't mean to hijack your thread!

Thanks for the input, I'll email her tomorrow then.

No need to apologize! We are in similar situations. :) That sucks about your buyer not writing you back. If it were me, I'd write to her again tomorrow, something like "Please confirm that you are still planning to pay for this item, as I have not heard back from you in response to my invoice or the reminder on 8/xx." And then if I still didn't hear anything, I'd file a non-payment claim after the 7 days were up and then relist. I haven't filed a non-payment claim myself, but I've seen that as a topic under the Ebay help section.

I sometimes really hate Ebay too! After I'm done cleaning out my closet I don't think I'll sell anything else for a loooong time.

Just to let you know that when I win something on ebay, I never respond to the invoices, I just click on them when I'm going to pay.  The only time I ever contact the seller is if it's going to be more than 7 days (or whatever is listed in their autions) before I can pay, which hardly ever happens unless I'm waiting on a bank transfer or something.  I just think when selling on ebay a little patience is in order (and trust me, I've sold quite a bit on ebay and know how hard that can be)

Scarlett - let us know what happens w/your buyer!

Thanks for the advice girls.  FP - I didn't expect her to respond to my invoice, I just expected her to pay.  It's been 4 days and I have no payment and no email explaining to  me why she hasn't paid, so that's my concern.  If there's a delay in her paying, she should be telling me that IMO.

I think I'm going to email her today nicely warning her that if I don't receive payment by Sunday I"m filing a non-payment claim and relisting my item.

Update, kind of: I emailed her this morning and she wrote back saying she was literally on the phone with PayPal that minute trying to fix the issue. Apparently she had a buyer who filed a non-shipping charge against her, and then forgot to drop it when the item arrived, and as a result her PayPal account is now screwed up. I have no experience with that so I don't know if she's BSing me or not, but she was really nice about it and said she'd keep me informed. I guess if this is still dragging out by the time it's been a week, then I'll relist.

FP, you make a good point -- we do need to remember to stay patient sometimes. I just dislike it when it's past the time I specified in the listing. Shopchicago, I totally understand why you're aggravated with your issue. It's frustrating when you don't hear anything. I hope your reminder prods her into action!
