I wouldn't consider them "in" per se, in the way they were a trend a few years ago, but definitely practical and comfortable if you live in a cold climate.  I was anti-ugg for a long time until I snagged a pair at a deep discount to wear as slippers around the house in the winter.  I now have 3 pairs plus a pair of waterproof canadienne shearling boots. I have also since purchased the minnetonka shearling boots for my husband and father to wear as winter house shoes.

I own a pair like that and I'll be wearing them this winter. Not necessarily for style as much for function. They keep my feet warm and dry like no others so I say get them!

I bought a rasberry pair to wear this fall/winter.  I got them to wear around the house and running errands and long shopping trips, basically for what my flip flops serve in the summer.  And let me tell you, I'm in love!  These things are so comfy and snuggly, so I'll definitely be wearing, but not with jeans tucked in.  So in short, I think they've become a winter staple/classic, just be sure to not wear them in a fashion-y way, like a mini skirt and bare legs in the middle of a snow storm

I totally agree with this. I plan to buy a pair, but it's mostly just for running errands, or bumming around town on the weekends during the winter months. I had a pair last year that I completely wore out during a few visits to Chicago and Boston where I wore them all over town. As long as you don't wear them w/ a mini skirt..I think you're fine.

thanks for all your advice., my main purpose was for warmth and comfort but i just didnt want to be the only one wearing them this year...and FP, i really like how you described them as flip flops for the winter because thats exactly how i feel about uggs...

I haven't turned to Uggs yet, but they are looking quite nice for lounging around in.

Well, I bought a pair for the baby!! Couldn't resist - they were too cute!! And I'm thinking I may join the millions who wear them and get a pair for myself this fall/winter. My goal is to stick with my style throughout this pregnancy and I know I'll need something comfortable on my feet for the last few months.  I think that Uggs would be the perfect choice for me as far as that goes.  I also compare them to flip flops.  I think if you can wear flip flops somewhere in the summer - Uggs will work for the same type situations in the winter.

I agree with everyone.  When I got super sick last winter yet still had tons of running around to do with the kids etc. they were a life saver. I didn't weary them in a trendy way just for comfort.

Also wore them to the evening football games where it is FREEZING.  I swear the only time it's seriously cold in OC is when I am stuck outside watching my kids play sports no matter the season.

I have a purple pair that are for weekends and just hanging out. I don't wear them that often but they are super comfy when I do.

Also, I guess they're sort of trendy, but I do confess to liking the Uptown style... when worn in actual cold weather with cold weather clothing, they strike me as having kind of a cute posh snow bunny vibe. But they might look a little weird in the middle of the desert, I'm not going to lie to you.

Ill be wearing mine- even though I live in California, theres nothing like them for a day off when you are running around and its chilly. I didnt say cold-its cold here maybe a week out of the whole year. I also have a pair for wearing around in the house and they are so cozy!!

I live in LA, and I see lots of people wearing them.  I don't know if they are in or out...but they do look awfully comfortable!
