i'm 27 and i have wrinkles (or rather "expression lines" as the girls at CO Bigelow called them).

i was wondering what you guys use to prevent and fill.

i bought a juvena night cream and got a sample of the Freeze 24/7 cream b/c it was $115 for a jar and i couldn't make the drop of that much for a cream.  but the sample is pretty good...

anyway- suggestions?

Where are your wrinkles?  Forehead?  Crows feet?  Laugh lines?  If they're not in the immediate eye area, Retin-A might work well for you.  It's a chemical exfoliant and it keeps your skin newer and younger by removing the older layers.  It's prescription only, so you might want to talk to a dermatologist about it to make sure that Retin-A would indeed work.

Other than that, I'm not really up on a lot of skin care products.  I'd be really picky about the expensive creams because I think a lot of them are really similar to much cheaper products.  And of course, drinking plenty of water, limiting smoking, caffeine, and alcohol, and wearing sunscreen and protective dark glasses all help too.

yeah, i guess telling you where they are would be helpful, huh?

i have 4 little lines on my forehead.

my mother, sister, grandmother, aunts all aged first around their eyes.  so i've always paid a lot of attention to eye creams and BAM! there the little devils showed up on my forehead.

i am lucky b/c i have generally good skin.  almost all makeup artists who work on me at Sephora or CO Bigelow always comment on my good skin and ask what i do.  i say- good genes.  i use a facial moisturizer with sunscreen, get made fun of for my ginormous sunglasses.  i don't smoke and i drink tons of water.

so these little devils are gonna be a b*tch to get rid of.

*sigh* botox anyone?

I have 'expression lines' on my forehead too (at 22 for pete's sake!).  I'm big on sunscreen too, but I think all the animated facial expression from performing and teaching dance got the best of me .

I started using glycolic acid peels about 6 months ago for acne scars, but it's done a nice job on the fine lines too - I can't even see them anymore unless I get right up on myself in the mirror.  Spas and docs offices do them, but I do it at home (much less expensive, and safe if you follow the directions carefully).

my BFF is getting glycolic peels done now too and she said she noticed some fading of her "expression lines" as well.  she goes once a month to her spa to have them done.

what products do you use at home to do this with?  how often have you been doing them?  have they been abrasive to your skin at all?

I use an at-home glycolic peel - I definitely see a difference using it.  I've had lines on my forehead since highschool though - not too much I can do about them.  nothing beats botox though. it costs around $300 but it lasts for a few months.

I order it online through Glymagic for about $10.  The directions tell you to do them no more often than once every 7 days.  I usually do cheeks and forehead every time, and full face every other, depending.

I got the kit the first time, which comes with a 1 ounce container of 30% acid solution, a fan brush, and neutralizer powder (aka Baking Soda).  It's not abrasive to the skin in the sense that, say, apricot scrub is.  It's just a clear liquid that you brush on with the fan brush, leave for 2-4 minutes, rinse with water, and rinse with baking soda paste.  You're very red and tingly for a couple hours after, so I do it right before bed.  By the next morning, all redness is gone.  I do get pretty flaky around the nose/chin/mouth, but never do on my forehead or cheeks.  I usually do an aspirin mask the next morning to clear off all the rough patches, and then I'm good to go.

It's acid on your skin, so I'm not going to say it's super pleasant.  It isn't painful, just a bit sting-y and itchy, but that gets better IMO the more times you do it.

I don't have any specific recs, but I have fine lines on my forehead, tiny impressions near my eyes and little smile lines -- and I am 26, so don't feel bad. When I went to my dermatologist last year, he said those are all very normal for someone my age with fair skin. So don't feel bad! Plus, I kind of like them (at this stage, anyway), and people still tend to think I am way younger than I am.

aww thanks HB!  people tend to think i am way younger than i am too- so i guess i shouldn't be freaking out.  but i am really scared of aging for some reason and this just seems to be the "welcome" to things starting to sag and wrinkle...  eek!!!

Do you have poor vision, by any chance?  The reason I ask is because I have one distinct wrinkle on my forehead and I'm positive it's from years and years of squinting, even if it's ever so slight.

Anyway, if you don't want to go the Botox route, I'd suggest glycolic peels or Retin-A, just because those types of products get the older layers of skin off.

Don't worry Bex!  I live in LA, and people age so much more quickly here because of the sun.  In terms of at home stuff, I really like the neutrogena microdermabrasion to sluff all the old skin off!  I also swear by the Peter Thomas Roth SPF 30 sunscreen - and my big sunglasses.  I also like the Ole Henrikson sheer transformation creme - very gentle, but it's like a miracle...I swear.  It evens skin tone and really moisturizes.
