Weigh check in...
Permalink Closed

So ladies, after week 1 back on how did we do? Of course I posted first because I'm down 2.6 lbs! Hooray - which shows exactly how bad I must have been doing. Cause I had brownies on Saturday & Monday. But I did hit my water pretty good this week & changed a few things. The sucky part? I'm up nearly a pound since YESTERDAY - another proof that I should only weigh once a week & stick with it.

How did you do?

Okay, I don't want to butt in because I wasn't involved in all the 'back on the wagon' stuff last week, but do you mind if I hang out with you guys here?  I've been on a path paved with indulgence for the last two months with moving, the wedding, the honeymoon, etc etc and it's really starting to show .  Apparently I've still been on the wagon, it's just been heading the wrong direction!

I'm trying to kind of reset myself in the next week or so.  The 'do I really need to eat that?' part of my brain has been shut off, and I really need to start listening to it again.  I'm also thinking about getting some kind of workout DVD I can do at home, and trying to be more consistent with the evening walks.  Not sure it's going to translate into a bunch of weight loss since I somehow manage to get bigger and smaller while the scale refuses to budge, but I gotta try!

I'm up 7 from pre-wedding .

Elle, of course you can hang out!  Do you do WW or just try to eat differently?

laken1, congrats!  You are doing fabulous!!

Guys, I'm kind of depressed.  I've been doing WW for two weeks now and I haven't lost a. single. pound.  It's discouraging because I feel like I've been doing everything right.  I've never even used all my weekly flex points and on most days I don't go more than a couple points over the 20 I'm allowed.  Of course I have an occasional bad day (see yesterday and the 17 point margarita!) but I really feel like I should be seeing results.  I do exercise a lot though and I know that I'm probably rebuilding muscle that I lost when I was pregnant and less active but it's still kind of demotivating to get on the scale and see no change.

And I don't drink enough water, so that's probably part of the problem as well.  Would anyone be up for doing some sort of water challenge thing?  I think I'm going to give myself some sort of weekly reward for meeting daily water goals.  I go to the gym in the morning and then start pounding back coffee as soon as I get to the office.  Not good!!

Not WW - I have an account on FitDay that I track food and activity with, but I haven't used it in a looooong time.  Back on it I guess!

elle, of course you can join in - as if you (or anyone) has to ask!

TST - how much do you have to lose? Where do you fall on the weight chart? I guess my question is - are you really close to being within the range for your height or do you have more to lose than that? I seem to remember you saying you needed to lose 10ish - to me those last few are so hard to lose. Maybe you do need to eat all of your flex points - I know it sounds counterproductive, but it can make a difference if you are not needing to lose a lot. Your exercise may be making a difference & the water really really is helping me. Even when I eat more than I should if I drink water I lose. And if I eating within my points & don't drink water I don't.

I'm bad about water too, so we can do a challenge if you want to. I struggle with the water thing - uh, every.single.day.

I'm totally joining you guys. South Beach went out the door and now I'm back to Phase 1. Well, I'm easing into it this weekend with a full-fledged commitment starting Monday.

I HAVE to work out 4-5 days a week but I can't find the motivation. What can I do? I want to do it but I can't seem to actually do it. Ugh. I need someone's raison d'etre here.

As for the water thing, my goal is to drink a gallon of water each day. One thing that helps me is getting a big thing of water. It's a lot easier to drink 4 big bottles than 8 little ones. Plus, I don't let myself go to the restroom until I finish one bottle. That's a lot of motivation to hurry and drink it.

laken1, right now I'm about 137ish and I was 128 when I found out I was pregnant.  It doesn't sound like a lot but I'm only 5'2.  At my current BMI I am considered overweight and according to WW and another site I saw, my ideal weight is 112, but I know that's unrealistic for me.  I don't have a super petite build; my bones are larger and I tend to build a lot of muscle. I tend to carry most of my weight in my mid-section, like right now I can wear most of my pre-preggo jeans, but I feel uncomfortable in a lot of my shirts (muffin top!).  I mostly just want to get back into shape and feel good about the way I look in my clothes.

Thanks for the advice.  This week I'm going to try to eat all my flex points, so I'll go for 25 points per day instead of 20.  I was wondering if that would make a difference....I know they wouldn't give you the points if you weren't supposed to use them, but I woulld still feel really guilty every time I went over my 20.  I also know that the water is a huge deal and I think I'm going to start including my water intake when I log in the diet and exercise thread.  I knew it was important but I didn't realize what a big impact it had on weight loss.

Oh, if you're obsessed with the scale (I am!), here's a really good article about what affects weight and why we shouldn't freak out over daily fluctuations.  I'm going to weigh in tomorrow morning and then I'm going to hide the f'er.....I get on that thing almost every time I go into the bathroom and I know I'm developing an unhealthy obsession.

Thanks!  I feel better now

Yay, welcome!  Have you tried working out with a friend or hiring a trainer?  I know a lot of people find it easier to go if they know that someone else is counting on them to be there.  If you're really goal oriented, you may want to set some sort of fitness goal, like being ready for a 5k by halloween or something.  It also helps if you make the goal public.  I always tell friends and coworkers about my fitness goals because I feel like a big fat loser if I tell someone that i'm going to set out to do something and then fail.

I like your water idea.  that bathroom thing seems like huge motivation.  I'm going to give it a try!

I had a friend I'd work out with on a pretty consistent basis but now she goes over lunch and my boss is a hardass about us being around the office all day, so that doesn't work for me (although I may try and figure it out if I can).

I'd love to hire a trainer but I'm constantly broke, so that's not really something I could do. Once the weather cools down, we can all (my friend group) start doing more outdoor activities but until then it's just me on me. I'm trying to do more errands on my bike so I have motivation to ride it everyday but I don't always have errands to run...

Maybe I'll try and do some lunchtime activities with my friend. If my boss doesn't like it, he can go jump in a lake. Hee. That was fun to say.

I think I am going to check in here too.

I have some weight to lose, and recently lost 10 pounds, so I'm already off to a good start, but sometimes extra support is enough to keep one ona diet.

I am not doing WW, although I am familiar with it, having done it before. I am mostly focusing on portion control, healthy foods instead of the convenient ones, and exercising.

Exercising is my down fall. I exercise really hard when I get to the gym, it's just getting there that is hard for me.

Water I'm actually good at. I get over 2 liters a day. I don't drink anything besides water until after I get my water down, so that mid-afternoon diet coke never makes it out of the machine if I haven't had my water. What motivation!

wellll....... I'm not exactly doing that great.  Some days I'm way below my points because I ate alot of free veggies and low point fruits and meats then others like today I pig out and I've already had 3 bacon and cheese kolaches.  So that said I'm at a stable 140 but I really want to be 130 again.  So after my test on Sunday i'm going to start working out 4 -5 days a week again and get back into shape.  WW will probaly start back then too with just a 1 week break for vacation.

The easiest thing with water is to get a large water bottle (1 or 1.5 liter size) and carry it around with you all day.  Then you will get your water in.

i would love to join too...since meeting my boyfriend last year, i've managed to gain 10-15 lbs!! Well, every meal out was worth it  But now reality has set in, so time to get cracking!  My goal is to lose 15lbs...not doing WW or anything, just portion control, eating smaller, more frequent meals, healthier items, and lots of water.

I need to get in on this too.  Ever since we stopped our email support group, my weight went straight back up to where it was.  So. f*cking. depressing.

So anyway, I'm trying to eat better and work out a bit more.  We've got a hurricane coming our way, so it's probably going to rain and rain and rain for a few days, so I need to find some exercises I can do at home.
