I'm getting my husband a pair of frye engineers for christmas (yes, I'm already xmas shopping!) do any of your guys have these boots? I don't know if the 8R or 12R is better for him. The 8R looks easier to get on, but will the top of the boots show when he sits down or are they high enough? are the 12R hard to get on? I don't want to tip him off by dragging him into a shoe store.
shown are the 8R and 12R, respectively:

I would get the 8R so it can be slipped on easily for him. You know how men are with shoes- they go for simplicity. The pants would go over them easier than if it was for the 12R and it will be less noticable under the pants. HTH.
Do you have a pair of boots that have a similar height but don't have heels? Can you try with your own boots to see if they would show when he sits down? The 8R's look like they are high-ankle length, is that about right? I would think they would be okay unless your husband wears flood-water length type pants. But I can't for the life of me see you with a man who doesn't wear normal length pants, sooooo I think the 8R's should be okay. But definitely try to see if you can mimic the length with a pair of your own. Or go to Macy's/Nordies (whomever sells these in store) and ask a lovely sales associate to try them on for you.
BTW, I actually totally dig guys in boots- even cowboy, sh*tkicker types. Nice pick.

I just asked DH which ones he would want and he said he likes the taller ones. But if you're just worried about the top showing on the 8R, I don't think it will be a problem. Like relrel said, I really can't see you with a man who would wear his pants that short. :)
My BF would like the second ones better...he has a pair of heavy duty Ugg boots that are the same height as the 12Rs. He has very slim calves though, so slipping shoes on and off isn't an issue for him.
