we go for 45 min in the am and hour at night if we walk around the neighborhood, or 1- 1 1/2 hour if we go to the dog park. On the weekends we go for longer.
-Halley loves walks, but she is very bad on the leash. She pulls, and if she sees another dog or a cat, she tries to take off after it. She's broken a collar once and a leash once trying to run off, and she's almost been hit by a car. She is so strong, and I don't take her anymore because I am afraid she'll break off again.
-Sully is terrified of walks. He freaks out anytime he sees a person, and tries to hide behind me. He tries to run up every driveway, hoping it's ours. We have a trainer who suggested a dog park for him instead.
-we have a pretty decent-sized yard, and they generally chase each other around it several times per day.
-it's way too hot in the daytime for them to be outside, and I am not comfortable walking them alone at night. (My husband hates taking them and usually doesn't.)

I don't walk mine either. They run around the yard together, and are very active, but I just can't handle them on the leash. My older dog is just too strong. My husband runs with both of them when it cools down, and we take them to the dog runs occasionally, but like Halleybird said, it's too hot in Phoenix to walk your dog in the summer. We play in the backyard, so they get plenty of exercise.
I walk her mostly on weekends. She is an escape artist and seriously can run faster than a wolf. They say my breed of dog can never be without a leash or you will never see them again. (which is true considering the amount of times she has managed to take off)
So now I play with her in my backyard and then on weekends take her to the fenced in dog park. Even there I am nervous she will get loose.
She has way to much of a hunter instint ...only bad thing about her :)
Lately I've been taking Cheese on one walk a day for about 1 1/2 to 2 hours along the Lakefront and then we also go to the dog park every day for about an hour. He's a very high energy dog who needs to run at least once a day or he gets antsy.

I walk Pearl once a day, after dinner. We go for 30 minutes to 1 hour, usually it's around 45 minutes.
She's let in the yard whenever she wants, so usually there is a squirrel, bird, or leaf to chase after. Also, she gets "the zoomies" in the house sometimes and will run as fast as she can up and down the hallway for a few minutes, carrying her squeeky hot dog toy.
She is 10 years old, and while she's not completely lazy, she's not high-energy either.

Halleybird- Have you tried a training harness? My puppy does this and people have recommended a training harness (which is better/more humane than a choke collar), it tightens around the dog's shoulders if they pull on the leash, and they don't like it so they let up.
As for Baxter- He gets walked at least 1x per day, sometimes 2x- because he is just 6 months and is so active. Plus he barks a lot and we have a roomate, so we have to do something with him.

Yeah - our trainer recommended it, but she flips out anytime we try to put her in it. I don't really know why, but she has quite a few issues with being restrained b/c she was abused as a puppy. We could probably work with her on it, but she seems to be OK running around the yard. Plus, we're getting a pool, and she loves to swim more than anything, so I am sure she'll get lots of exercise that way.

With a big yard we rarely walk her anymore. We will go outside and play with her in the yard though. We toss logs that she fetches (yes, logs. She's only 35 pounds but is super strong and like to chew wood, so we toss logs - smallish ones though). The people behind us have to dogs, behind us kitty-corner have a dog, and next door has a dog, so she has lots of freinds to visit with.
We are in the city so no yard for Vinny. We used to only take him out twice a day (that is including the dog walker), but now that I am not working I take him out more than that if the weather is nice.

We live in an apartment, so no yard. Gus gets walked 4 times a day. A short 10 minute walk in the morning, a half hour walk by the dog walker, another half hour to 45 minute walk when we get home and a brief 5 minute walk before we go to bed. On weekends we walk him every two or three hours because when we are home he drinks more water. I guess I should add that Gus is on phenobarbital for seizures which makes him more thirsty...therefore more peeing.
