I have a rash
Permalink Closed

This morning I woke up with this crazy rash. I had been kind of itchy for a few days but this morning I have bumpy red hives all over the back of my neck, behind my ears, on my left ear and in my hairline at the back of my head. Its sooo itchy. I put somy hydrocortizon cream on it but it isn't really helping.

I haven't changed any hair products, makeup, fragrance, soap or detergent lately. The only thing I can think of is that we got new pillows on the weekend. Could that be causing it? I cut the tags off of them so I don't know what they're made of (but its not feathers) and they're covered in pillow cases, obviously, but could I still be getting a reaction for that?

I need help. I'm itchy! Stupid @#%^&* rash!

i broke out like that one time but all over my body.  my doctor said i had strep throat and it was presenting itself as a rash...whatever...anyhoo, he gave me a penicillin shot, which i HIGHLY DO NOT RECCOMEND.  it hurt like hell hell hell hell, and made my butt sore for a week.  yup, they shoot you in the butt cheek.  but it doesn't matter which cheek they inject, both of them will hurt.  not fun.

anyhoohoo, my doctor prescribed benadryl for the rash.  cleared it right up.

Maybe it's something you ate? My boyfriend gets rashes/hives in weird places when he eats food he's allergic too (he's allergic to a ton of stuff). His doctor recommends both the benadryl liquid and the cream.

Hope you feel better!

I agree, take some Benadryl. While it may be the pillows, are you sure you haven't been cooking with anything that might have set off the hives? Perhaps yet another lovely new development in your shellfish allergy?

what did you have on? Not something you just bought & hadn't washed was it? (that's why I broke out). I went to the doctor & he gave me a cortizone shot, which i HIGHLY recommend. It's da bomb & I'd have one every single day if I had to in order to get rid of the insane hives / rash / itching. I second Benadryl for now.

Yeah, tomatoes give me hives on the palms of my hands (they also make me puke) and I ate them for YEARS before developing a reaction. Food allergies are weird because they build up, and even something you've been able to eat can suddenly not be ok anymore. Good luck! Hoep you feel better soon...
