I am really happy in my job.

Out of the blue, two companies are WOOING me like nobody's business.

More money, more benefits, etc.

I don't know what to do!! For those of you who are happy where you are right now ... would you leave for more money at a more prestigious company??

AUGH.

Two words, HELL YES. But you do have to look at the circumstances.

1. Are you making ENOUGH money right now. Because I am happy where I am but not making nearly enough money so I would leave in a heartbeat. But I might not risk going somewhere else if I was making enough here.

2. Are you working to live or living to work? Does your job mean more to you then just a daily thing you do to bring home the bacon? Because if it's about bringin home the bacon, leave. If it's about being in the field you love at a job you love, consider the others very well before you decide to leave. It's very hard to get a job you actually love being at.

Good luck.

Job A: Young, fun, growing PR Agency in big city (Account Executive)

Big-city location, big office, awesome view, located in awesome area.

Farther from friends and family.

Company is small, but young and very fun. Very laid-back. Can wear jeans, be yourself, etc.

I am given praise often, the money is good (I have no debt right now and can afford to shop ... but in moderation).

No 401k

Travel to foreign countries included

Job B: Family-owned, HUGE corporation (you've heard of it), small-town location (Global Communications Manager ... to take on Global Commications Director position when current one retires -- few years)

Small city location (outside of metro area, would have to move out of the city for sure).

Closer to my friends and family.

Huge corporation, business casual, cubicles, office politics.

Money is better, I could buy a nice house or condo easily, AND shop.

I don't know if I will be happy. It is similar work, but more corporate, less fun.

401k AND pension

It's a global position, so yes, foreign travel is a must.

WHAT WOULD YOU CHOOSE?

I think it depends what is important to you.  These are the questions I would ask myself to determine which job:

Do I currently save for retirement?  If not should I be?  (the answer to should I be is always YES!!!)

Will I miss the city?  If yes, how often will I be able to visit?  Is it within driving distance for weekends?

Do I want a house/condo/etc?  (basically am I ready to settle down)?

Do I miss my family/friends?  Would I rather be close to them?

What advancement (if you are interested in this) is available at my current job compared to the job that you have been offered where this almost guaranteed advancement?

Don't take a job for money, take it for the opportunity and the opportunties (work and non-work related) that a new job could bring.  Good Luck with your decision!
