i tried to place an order from alloy, but when i went to submit my billing address, they said it didn't match (it does) my credit card address.  so i changed unit to apt.  i changed w. to west.  so basically i changed the address to see if the changes would let me place the order.  each time it said the address didn't match.  i gave up. 


well, i went to use my debit card (what i used to place the order....trying to give the credit card a rest), i took out cash, looked at my receipt and i had a much lower balance than what i thought it should be. in fact  over $300 less.  each time i tried to place the order, they withheld the funds from my account!!!  but there was no order, no finalized confirmation e-mail, etc...


in fact, that page that normally shows up on most websites "are you sure you want to submit/place this order??" never came up. 


i called customer service they were soooo rude to me, tried to tell me that i was an idiot and i didn't know what witholding funds means (hello, i've pre-ordered enough things to know what witholding the funds means).  but the fact is, i tried to place the order but there was no order actually placed.  they couldn't even look up my "order" because they said there was none, there was just three withholdings on my card.  yes, they weren't going to be collected, but still, i would like the $300 to be there where there's nothing ever going to be shipped.  (also, of course it occured when i was out of town and when my somewhat significant monthly IRA debit was going to be hitting my bank account).


i hope this makes sense, but i was HIGHLY annoyed because i didn't get the $$ back on my card for 4 days after it happened.  so if anyone tries to order from alloy either do it by the phone or don't expect much from the to begin with.

Something really similiar happened to me about 5 years ago w/Alloy and I've never ordered from them since.  I think they suck.  Everytime I ever tried to order from them, I had nothing but hassles.  One time, I returned something, and they told me the package never arrived to them...luckily I had bought insurance and tracked down the package - it was sitting in their warehouse - liars.  I feel your pain.
