1.  Dead bugs!  I'm more scared of dead bugs than live ones.  I have no problem killing bugs/shooing them out the door. But if it's already dead, I have to get hubby to remove it because I can't go near it.

2. Brains.  I don't like looking at pictures of brains, or even movies where there are fake brains.    I especially can't deal with medical documentaries that show brain surgery.

3.  Men with long fingernails really freak me out and I have no idea why.

Women who remove their eyebrows and draw them back in. I seriously can't even look at them.

My first is eyebrow related. I can't watch people rub their eyebrows the wrong way (backwards) And HATE it if people do it to me. Right now thinking about it I am sitting here smoothing mine out because it freaks me out and makes me feel funny.

Also, I don't like when my hands or feet are dry or dirty. Kind of like the sand thing Kitty was talking about. I have lotion in EVERY room in my house and in my purse and at my desk at work. I have to have it with me everywhere I go because if I wash my hands or get them wet I have to put lotion on them because I can't stand how they feel when they are not moisturized. And mostly the only kind of lotion that makes me feel settled is Bath and Body works body lotion. The hand lotion is too watery. It needs to be thick. If something like this happens and I don't have lotion, I walk around with my hands in a fist because I hate the feeling. On the plus side, I don't think my hands will EVER wrinkle because they are lotioned at ALL times of the day EVERYDAY.

Also, bugs, no matter how big or small, make me hyperventalate. I have to kill them if I am by myself though because if I know they are there I spaz. It's funny too because I am very outdoors-y and I have to kind of ignore them when we camp and stuff. Not easy.

I love this post!  I hate penciled eyebrows and ear-gauges.  One of my best friends is marrying a guy w/ them. I can't say his name w/o Spacer in front of it.  "Yah, she is marrying Spacer [name]"

Anway, here are my top-TOP three.

  1. Cotton.  I hate it, seriously.  The feel, the noise it makes when you grab it.  It gives me this shivers.  I used to work as a pharmacy technician, so every day was hell.

  2. The sound of snow when you walk on it.  The scrunch noise, it reminds me of cotton.  Which I already stated I hate.

  3. Sharks.  Deathly-deathly afraid of them.  I didn't used to be.  Have any of you ever been to Universal Studios and taken the studio tour. I was the girl who jumped halfway over the tram screaming like my eye was gouged out because a stupid fake shark jumped out at me. One swam under me while snorkeling - granted it was probably 20 feet under me, but I freaked.  Try being so scared you get the dry heaves with a snorkel piece in your mouth.  Nice.

Nail files.  I haaaate the sound it makes when someone files their nails.  I can't even be in the same room as someone filing their nails.  And when on rare occasions, I get a manicure/pedicure, I flinch when they use the file on me.  It just feels so weird and makes the grossest scraping noise.

The sound of people scratching their skin is so disgusting.

Feet--all my campers put their feet on my bed this summer and I would flip every time.  Sick.

Germs in general bug me.  I can't stand when someone doesn't wash their hands after going to the bathroom.  NASTY.

Also, I can't pee with someone in the same room as me.  Apparently there are people who can do this.  I am not one of them.  I can't even go if the cracks in the public restroom's door is too big.

You girls reminded me of other things that bug me:

  • Feet. I really, really hate feet. Hate them. Especially men's feet. I've dated some guys with really gnarly feet and it's a total turnoff. But even if they have decent feet, I'm still grossed out and I don't want them touching me with them.

  • Whistling. I can't stand the sound. And the person who sits near me at work whistles all the time. I seriously want to stand up and scream when it happens. I can't concentrate on anything when I hear it.

  • Most meats really gross me out if I start to think about it. I'll be eating this juicy filet and all of sudden get all grossed out. For this reason, I was a vegetarian for about 6 years. I still don't eat chicken or turkey and only ocassionally eat beef (as in a filet). I don't have any problems with fish, though.

Z4, I am the same about bodies of water with fish, unless I can see them. I was happy as a clam in the Carribbean because the water was so clear and bright, but I loathe going in an ocean/river/lake where there are swimmy things that I can't see that might brush up against me. I'm shuddering just thinking about it.

I also have a pathological hatred of water running down my forearms. Like when you're doing the dishes and you raise your hand for some reason and a bead of water runs down your arm--I HATE that feeling.

Does my food touching count? I am super duper weird about that. Thankfully DH agrees & we have several sets of what we call "lunchroom plates" - Yup, the ones with dividers like you used in elementary school. We use them when we are having several runny things, like mac & cheese, a meat, and beans. I can't eat fried eggs in a restaurant for the above reason - I like my yolk runny but I don't want them to mix so I eat all of the white & then break the yolk last. it drove my ex batty. I get paranoid eating them in a restaurant because I think everyone is looking at me - which they probably are.

This is my other thing.  It use to drive my parents insane when I was little.  My bf now is use to it, but thinks it is weird.  I love divider plates!!

  • people touching my neck.  if someone tries to tickle it i have to leave the room because i don't trust them not to do it again.  it's painful when my friends think they're funny and try in the car because i can't escape.

  • when my bf uses the packing tape to tape up packages.  i HATE that sound.  i have to put on my ipod or go for a walk.

  • dead animals on the road.  when i drive by one i always shiver and i get scared i'm going to get into an accident trying not to run over it.  it really gives me the heebie jeebies.

  • Earplugs. I'm arfaid that they'll get stuck

  • Raw Meat. Especially a turkey or chicken that you have to wash

  • Elevators. Always afraid I'll get stuck

  • Swimming at night. Nobody will know if you drown in the dark

  • Jawbreaker candies. They are the perfect size to choke on

  • Sleeping with the curtains open. Just creepy

  • Whenever I go on a website and it's like "Hello (my name)" (Amazon does that. freaky)

-Elevators

-Animals-all animals (I know that's terrible, I just can't help it!) freak me out...

-I can't swim in a lake or ocean because swimming with fish freaks me out (no scuba diving or snorkeling for me either)

-Crappy motels freak me out (okay I'm a "hotel snob" but anything with a Travelodge, Days Inn, Ramada sign on it freaks me out)

Escalators.  This is a relatively new thing for me, but I find myself white-knuckled and having to remind myself to breathe when I'm going up.  Oddly enough, going down the escalators isn't as big a deal as going up.

I have an irrational fear of fire. I check outlets, the range, etc... many times before leaving the house- and if I forget to check I will turn around in my car and go back even though deep down I know that nothing could have possibly been left on. I could not function the rest of the day if I didnt. I think: if there is a fire: your dog will die, your cats will die, and every one will be so mad at you. If I smell smoke I freeze up inside and instantly my heart will start to race, my palms become sweaty. I have started to watch a few movies and if there are any deaths by fire- burning on stake, car crashes with death by fire-  have to automatically turn it off or I will be upset for days.

I am seriously dying over here at some of these, but I am certainly not trivializing anyone's fears.  We all have some quirks about us; that's what makes us human.  I love this especially from Mandy: "Animals should not be clear" in reference to jellyfish.  Too cute.

Mine are:

  • ice.  I can't stand to take it out of the icebox bec. of the scraping noise and I go insane if I'm near someone and they are getting crushed ice.  It gives me major goose bumps and some times, a headache.  Can you imagine being with me at a hockey game?

  • I don't like dead bugs either.  I don't know know why bec. they are dead and can't hurt me, but just ewww.

  • I have an irrational fear of clowns and spiders (it's not quite arachnophobia, but almost).

  • I can't stand cutting up all of my food prior to eating it.  My BF thinks I'm a nutjob because I went ballistic once when he tried to be helpful and cut up a cinnamon roll for me.  Leave me alone if I want to unroll it and eat it by sections.

  • If I am eating pancakes or waffles, I have to eat one at a time bec. I don't like to eat them stacked.  If they are Eggos, I have to have all of the holes filled with syrup and I don't like it to run over the side bec. some times I pick it up and eat it like a bagel.

  • I have to eat one food item at a time.  I am aware that it all gets mixed together in my stomach, but prior to that, I prefer to enjoy each taste individually.

  • I check the door locks several times prior to going to bed.  Even if I know I lock it first thing when I get in, I still have to check to make sure.  Some times I make my BF get up and he does so to appease me even though he also knows he engaged all 3 locks.  A few people I have known have had home invasions and I am seriously paranoid about it, even when I lived in a loft apt. on the 8th floor.  Hello, there were a few hundred people to be victimized on the first seven floors, so why on earth would I ever think someone would come to the 8th floor?  I'm a freak.

I hate stepping on spiders, ants, any type of small insect because I imagine the ticking sound their shell or bones? when I shatter them.  I scream for DH or DD to step on them.

Stepping on something wet, especially in the dark, creeps the heck out of me, it send shivers through my whole body.

I cant eat while watching anything medical or human body related, even if there is no blood or gore stuff involved, it makes me sick to my stomach.

Some of these are hilarious!

I also don't like the drawn on eyebrows, looks weird, especially when it's an unnaturally high in an "n" shape!  I cannot understand why anybody would shave them off just to draw them back on!  Work with what you got instead of looking like a clown!

Meat touching.  I cannot even touch it with gloves on.  Instead, I use tongs!   A very multi-functional tool.  I also use it to dig out things that fall in the garbage disposal.

Walking around in bare feet.  I can't even do it after I just cleaned the floors, or see anybody else walk barefooted.  They at least gotta be wearing flip flops.

Bugs that find their way into my car.

People who wear shirts more than once without washing them.

People who shower in the evening instead of the morning.  I don't get it....8hours of sleep equals sweat, greasy knotted hair, etc...

The lid on the dumpster....I freak every time I have to lift it and then wash my hands with dish detergent forever.

I actually can't handle going down them.  There have been a few times where I have left the escalator and went to find the elevator.  I also have to board it on the left side and have all my bags/purses/etc on the right side and it takes 2 or 3 "steps" before I can get on it.

Other items:
Eyes - can't handle them.

red meat - I just about cried when I a) had to cook those darn steaks for bf's b-day and b) when I actually ate one.  He now feels bad and thinks I took too big of a jump since I've avoided cow meat for 2 years now.  Little does he know I don't know if I will even take a hop after this.

water craft of any type - cannot stand boats/wave runners/skis/etc.  I have a huge fear of what is underneath the water and what might attack me if I fall off so I refrain as much as possible from watercraft.
