How do you tell if a bag is fake?

I just bought a MJ bag on eBay, and now I'm freaking out that it's not authentic or something.

It says NWT on and comes with the duster. It's coming from San Francisco..so I'm hoping I'm safe. Does anyone know how to tell if a MJ bag is a fake?

Luckily, this seller has a return policy (which includes shipping), so that makes me feel better.

Fake bags also come w/ dusters these day so I wouldn't put it pass them. Maybe you can bring it Saks/ Neimans and get it authenticated? I'm not sure if they do it though...

I think it's a fake...still not 100% sure. The girls on the purse forum said it's fake becasue the leather looks too smooth.

I want to get it and look at it closely.

Luckily, this lady offers a return policy.

how smooth is the leather. i have a real marc jacobs bag, purchased from off fifth. (the saks outlet) that's authentic and it has smooth leather. from a distance it looks really smooth and you can only tell close up that it has some texture. it's from a couple of seasons ago, and when i bought it they had several bags from that collection in different styles that had the same leather. i'm n/s if i keep the control card with the style # but i will search for it and post the info. if you want.
