I have done atkins for 4 years. I have lost 70lbs and got to my goal weight last summer. I have kept it off the entire time. I highly recomend it.

oh, the word 'diet' and i have had a love/hate relationship for a long time...

- atkins: i did it for about a month; lost some weight; gained more back.

- slim fast: i wanted food (i only did it for a week)

- WW (which i don't like to think of as a "diet") has worked wonders for me. i lost a total of 27 lbs and became lifetime last month. i can't say enough good things. for me, i needed a jump start on how to eat well again and WW did it for me.

i remember that you were on it; i'm assuming that you don't want to go back to it though?

I don't really like the word "diet" I think it's more about changing your life and choosing to eat healthy/workout.

I lost 70 or so lbs - but I did it totally on my own. I just ate healthier and watched my fat/calorie intake. I also started working out. It was a somewhat slow process and took about 2 years.

If last night is any indication, my magical diet is to eat a combination of cheetos and oreos, and sit on your ass all night long

yes i was and i loved it, i lost around 22-24 lbs. im not sure why i wont go back, maybe i will? i think im just really really lazy and perfer to drink meals if that makes any sense. i want to lose about 10 more. i just need to find something i can stick with for lifetime and not a quick fix. I had tried atkins years ago too but gained it all back then. i also tried a trainers meal plan, lost a grip but when i stopped i gained it all back too. ww taught me so much that thats why i think i haven't gained it all back. im just going up and down on 5 lbs.

I don't do diets. I joined WW in May and it has been highly enlightening to discover that some of the choices I was making were not nearly as good for me as I thought they were. I follow the Flex program but not as a diet; as a way to understand how the food I choose (or don't choose) to eat will affect my health *and* the way my clothes fit (or don't fit!).

ITA with this:

I think it's more about changing your life and choosing to eat healthy/workout.

Amen to that!

I work with 3 dietitians (ya, lunch is fun), and they say the only thing that truly works is hard work.  I've almost lost 25 lbs from my prepregnancy weight.  Some has been my change in eating habits, but most probably from breast feeding.  I suppose having a baby and breast feeding isn't a viable weight loss option for most people   But it worked for me!

I saw a 20/20 or Dateline special a while back where they took pics of people who wanted to lose weight in their bathing suits.  The reporter told them that if they did not lose X amt of weight (I think everyone set realistic amt), on the next broadcast their pictures would be shown on nat'l TV.  EVERY. Single. Person. Lost. Weight.  I think one lady was off by a few lbs., but they didn't show her pic.

Anyway, my co-workers and I are on the above diet, we can do whatever we want to lose weight, but if we don't lose at least 10 lbs, by Sep. 16th, we will post our pic on MY SPACE!

We started this Monday and we all brought our skimpy bathing suits and took very unflattering pics in the bathroom.  So...I know for one I don't want to see my pic on MySpace, so I've been going to the gym every single day this week and watching my food portions.

i gained 45 pounds with the pregnancy...I lost 25 pounds of it in the first month...then I got stuck...but now I am on Nutrisystem and I have lost 13 pounds in the last month...the foods are pretty good and you ad your own veges, salas, fruit, and dairy to supplement the meals...it has taught me about portion size and calorie intake....I plan to saty on it for another month or so, I want to lose the rest of the 12 pounds of the baby weight!

Uh, same here, but change the cheetos to cheese and the oreos to wine. I'm on the wine and cheese diet. Ugh.
