I wash my hair every other day or every three days.  I have relatively dry, thick, wavy hair that I flat iron.  Not washing every day saves me a lot of time as well decreases the damage caused by styling with a flat iron -  I only need to use it 3 days a week rather than 7 days a week.

I also like the way my hair looks better on the second day.  There is a whole lot less puffiness.

Same here!  I've actually gone five days before,   I'll never admit it anywhere else!

It's true that the less you wash your hair that the lesser your hair will get oily. I once started to wash my hair less that usual, and it evenutally took several days to get oily again. But just because your hair isn't oily doesn't mean your hair is clean. So now I prefer to wash it every other day.

I did the hair experiment that cc and halleybird were talking about as well. I have fairly long, colored, not thin not thick, straight hair. I used to be like the ladies that think you have to wash it everyday. My hair would get so oily, I'd be grossed out. I sometimes washed (at least the roots) twice a day. But once I tried the experiment I figured out that my scalp got used to less washing and produced less oil. Now I wash my hair 2-3 times a week and it looks great. It looks substantially better on the days I don't wash. All of my stylists wash about the same as me, or maybe even once a week. (I'm slightly obsessed with hair and have extensive conversations with stylists about it.)

I do use baby powder though, if some part of it gets a little oily looking, usually my bangs.

You can also try just rinsing your hair on the second day with no shampoo or conditioner. I had a roommate with thick, curly hair who washed every 3-4 days and just rinsed & used conditioner on the other days, and her hair always looked great. I don't think it would work on mine, though.

This is what I do alot. Generally, I wash my hair every two to three days. While we were having that awful heat wave, it was every other day just because it was hot outside and I felt nasty. During the winter, I can go up to 5 days without actually washing my hair if I rinse it and just use conditioner.

My hair, is super long, super thick but fine in texture and curly/wavy. And I might add, in need of a haircut with some serious layering action.

Every day. Every hairdresser I've had in the past has told me I should wash it every other day, and I've tried, but can't stand how oily it gets. I finally just gave up on it. I will skip Sunday if I'm not going anywhere, but I can't say I really see a difference on Monday once I wash it. My current hairdresser washes her hair everyday, too.

i wash mine twice a week but I have thick kind of coarse hair.

I use some different dry shampoos on the third day after washing to get me through.

Pretty much everyday, although I am trying to wean myself off that plan - give my hair a rest. I switch up shampoos quite a bit - trying to not incur the dreaded "build-up". I currently have in my shower, Biolage, Pantene, John Frieda for Blondes and 2 Sunsilk - straighten up and anti-flat. I have to say I love the last two the most (just posted about their ads). The straighten up really works!!! No more flat iron..... :) Saves time.

I wash my hair every other day or every 3 days as well.  My hair is dry and naturally wavy, so my hair looks way better on the 2nd day after it's washed.  Way less poufy and my hair doesn't start to get a drop of oiliness until the 3rd day.  If I washed every day, my scalp would be so dry, it would flake.

I am like that. And I find that if I keep my hair back or up, I don't touch it as much and it doesn't get that dirty.
I am sure it depends where you leave. When I was studying in Rome, I had to wash it every day, b/c of the dust in the air and the humidity. While back at the town, during the summer, air was much cleaner and hair din't require as much washing.

It also depends on what kind of activity you do: if I go for awalk in the morning, I take a shower afterwards without washing my hair. If I go running, I feel like I need to.
