Bronzer needed - NOT self-tanner
Permalink Closed

Does anyone know of a bronzing product (in lotion form) for the body that is not a self tanner? I'm going to a wedding next weekend and I want to put bronzer on my arms and shoulders but I don't want to deal with the hassle of self tanner. I'm anti-self tanner this summer.

I have shimmery lotion, so that's not really what I'm looking for. I remember Benefit had something similar a few summers ago but I don't remember what it was called or if it worked very well.

Any recs?

I have this stuff by Philosophy called the Big Skinny.  I really like it, even though it's a little messy to put on.  It gives me good subtle color without being fake and orange.  It also has a little shimmer to it.  You just have to give yourself enough time to dry before putting on any clothes, and be prepared to end up with a little shimmer on your clothing (unless I just didn't wait long enough for it to dry).  It washes right off....is not self tanner.  I also needed help applying to my back and the back of my arms to make sure I was even.

I have Jiffy Tan by Benefit and I really like it. It's kind of shimmery, but I don't mind it... it gives the illusion of a beautiful tan -- not orange at all.

Have you ever tried Flamingo Fancy? How does this compare?

My favorite is a gel bronzer by Bonne Bell, and it is cheap too!  It is a sheer forumula, and it is for the face and body.  I add some drops of it to my moisturizer or by itself for more color.

oooh, NARS body glow!  either the first version or the new colorless second version.  the bottle is huge and lasts like a million years but it's pricey at $59.  maybe go to a sephora and ask for a sample to see if you like it.  i love the original version--it smells like heaven and makes me well...glow!

here's the first version, called Body Glow:

Body Glow

and here's the second version, called Body Glow II (looks clear in real life):

I use the one by Stila, Stila Sun Gel. They make one for your face and one for your body. The one for your body has a little more sparkle in it... I wouldn't consider it a self tanner because you can wash it right off. It smells really good and I bought the one for my face (which will last ages even though the tube is small) so I can use it on my face and body. Basically it's a nice smelling, thick, dark gel bronzer.

I've tried Flamingo Fancy as a sample at Sephora. I'd say it's comparable to Nars Body Glow. It's more liquidy than Jiffy Tan and the color is more orange. I prefered Jiffy Tan because, since it was thicker, it seemed easier to apply and the color seemed more natural. The girls on MUA say that FF is hard to apply and it rubs off with sweat and water (but then again, some girls raved about it) and JT stays put until I shower.

If you don't mind spending, by all means get Nars Body Glow... I that stuff.

I bought this body tint from Estee Lauder from the Tom Ford Azuree line. It's pretty good! It doesn't get on clothes and it isn't disco shimmery. I also like how it's texture is more of a watery-gel than a lotion. this is $28

also on makeup alley people were raving about a pump mousse from mac that was a body bronzer. i think it was $22. not on the site but i have seen it in stores.
