Thats awful!!!!! The good thing is that your BF got the license plate #. I would call the non-emergency number. Also did your BF get the company name of the moving truck, you could call their main offices and report to them what happened. That should get them jumping on resolving the situation.
Nope - he wasn't able to get the name of the trucking company. To be honest w/you, I don't even know if there was one on the truck. I guess I'll call the non-emergency # and see what they tell me to do.
Oh yeah, they will find him with the license plate. I had a hit and run once (long story, but I really didn't realize I'd hit someone) and they can find you!

Here's my next question - say I file a police report tonight. They'll run the plate # and try to find him, and then what happens next?? What will happen to the guy, etc?

he'll get ticketed, and he will have to report it to his insurance.

Yeah, he'll get a ticket - and it's usually like 3 points on your driving record instead of just one point (like most tickets)
When I was involved in a hit and run I called the police and gave them the guys plate # and they did the rest. They came and looked at my car, assessed the damage (not for insurance purposes, just for the report) they contacted him, (it was an honest mistake, he didn't realize there was damage) he filed my damage on his insurance and everything was paid for. He had to go to court because of the ticket, and I had to make a statement for court.
I would imagine that's what the police will do in your situation.

I swear, it is just bad luck to have a car in this city! I would file a report and I really hope something happens to this guy--at the very least, he or the company will pay for your damages, minimal as they may be.
