Realizing you wore something totally inappropriate to work
Permalink Closed

I swear, I need to turn on more lights when I'm getting ready in the morning....

I recently went to work wearing a VERY short black mini dress. I figured this was OK because I had on solid pink leggings underneath. Well, I get to work and realize that the leggings are really kinda sheer...and that I'm basically wearing a t-shirt that barely covers my ass and nylons.

The whole day I was hoping no one would look at me.

I've also gone to work thinking that a particular shirt/dress/top didn't show *too* much cleavage, only to realize after living in the piece for awhile that I"m totally flashing the world.

Anyone else experience this?

Funny you should post this. Yesterday, I wore an olive skirt and two layered racerback tanks with heels and I threw a tan sweater over it to cover up my shoulders. Fine, right? Of course. Until the end of the day when I was getting ready to leave and I changed out of my heels into flip flops and took off the cardigan.

I went to the bathroom and when I was coming out, I ran into the president of the company, who said (jokingly), 'I guess it's warmed up back where you're sitting since you have a tank top on.' He was laughing, but I was still kind of like, er, eeek. Otherwise, I'm never dressed inappropriately, considering that there is one other woman in the office who wears mini skirts and flip flops every day.

HaHa Kitty! I did the too short dress with too sheer tights once in high school. I was going for that 60s mod look. The dress was trapeze and barely covered my ass, but I figured if I had on really opaque tights, it would look good. But my tights were not all that opaque. It still embarrasses me thinking about it. A guy asked me if I forgot my pants.

My cleavage is always an issue, too.

I once popped a button on my blouse before a really big interview. I decided that it was okay and that you couldn't really see much under my suit so I didn't bother to scramble around for a safety pin or anything. After the interview, I realized that yes, you could see a bit under my suit--- you could see a bunch of side cleavage!!! I was so mortified and kept praying that it wouldn't cost me the job. I ended up getting the job in the end

Yes! That's totally the look I was going for and it failed me miserably.

This is such a great topic I had to refresh it. Unfortunately my husband has been working in my office for a few years so I always have him to comment negatively in the morning if he thinks I'm looking "boobalicious."

But I'm reminded of a time in junior high when a flash bulb did me wrong - I had to have a picture taken for winning some award in English class and once the teacher had developed the photos, she realized that the thin black boatneck sweater I was wearing completely revealed the strapless bra underneath. Thank god it was a female teacher...I suppose Alexandra Kerry also learned her lesson about thin black knits!

I guess when this topic came around last summer I didn't have much to say. The only job I've had where I had to dress up was my internship last summer, and wearing the same shirts since I realize I was too boobalicious many of the days last summer.

Otherwise, I've always worked for my dad in the most casual office ever. Since I was 10 years old. So my coworkers have seen my fair share of horrible teenage fashion mistakes, and the one I remember most was a white tank top with a rose picture on the front that I wore to work with short shorts when I was 13 or 14. It was way inappropriate because it was kind of see-through (being white cotton), and my mom said something before I left for work that day but I didn't listen to her. I should have. Thankfully, most of the people who saw me grow up there have gone on to other jobs or are my family...not that I want my family to see me doing stupid things, but they can forgive me more I think.

ha ha - yes... today as a matter of fact... I have on mid-calf boots (very cute oxblood miu miu ones with a black bow on the side) and black fishnets. I am wearing a dress and after wearing it for a while, I feel like the dress is too short and I'm exposing too much fishnet in combo with the boots. It has me self conscious and I am hesitant to walk around the office... ashamed

other incidents include too low cut of a neckline or a too tight article of clothing.  I think i hate the too short of a dress/skirt situation the most.
