My neighbor who I used to babysit just broke her leg in two places yesterday and will be sitting on her living room couch for the rest of the summer. I wanted to take her something. Any suggestions? I was thinking a basket of stuff. What do kids like?
I'm thinking crafty stuff that she can do like those lanyard bracelets, or beads, etc. Go to a Michael's or any craft store. They usually have kid appropriate stuff. When I was a kid I loved the barbie head where you got to do her hair and the barbie template that let you "dress" barbie with different outfits by rubbing crayons on the paper which was placed on top of he paper (hmmm, am I dating myself?). How about a drawing journal and art supplies including a book on how how to draw different things. If you have a teacher supply store nearby there are always lots of cool things there. Also...I would think something small like Polly Pockets that she can set on a bed tray and play with.
i loved these fuzzy posters (black fuzz, white coloring space). they came with markers and you could usually get them at michael's craft store.
i like the thin markers from walgreens/cvs that have a colored lid, but the base is white. for thin markers they last a long time and they're inexpensive.
sorry if i'm being vague, i can't think of a better way to describe them.

Any kind of art project would probably be cool. A craft store would have tons of stuff for a girl her age.
I'd also get books. Check out a local bookstore and ask someone in the children's department what they're reading these days. Heck, Nancy Drew is still pretty awesome, imo.
