diptyque candles?
Permalink Closed

anyone have any of them?  i wanted to get one for my birthday as a treat (i love ridiculously overpriced candles, my fave indulgence).  what are the best?  I was thinking baies, feu de bois, or roses (roses is the only one i've smelled and it was really nice- though not that unique- i've heard a lot about baies).

i have the baies, in the black version, and i love it.  it smells so wonderful, even when you're not burning it (and for the amount that it costs, i really don't burn it that often b/c i feel like i'm really just burning money!)  the candle itself is so simple yet modern, that it can almost serve as decoration by itself.  even though it's the most i've ever paid for a candle, i wouldn't think twice about getting it again.

btw, barneys sells a set of three smaller versions of the baies, fig, and lavender for $80, in case you want to sample different versions:

my old boss used to give me these a lot.. i like baies too and one that's silver. i forget the name but it's supposed to smell like fire? or firewood???

i really like d.l. & co. candles. i got them thru a friend for wholesale price but everything about them is soooooooo wonderful. talk about indulgence. the hatbox, the paper, the little handpainted ceramic dish it comes in. it also burns very clean. much cleaner diptyque.. red flower burns nicely i think b/c it's soy wax but i dont' really like most of their scents.

scents i like by d.l. & co., although they are ALL good, are:

pink pepper
black pepper
jasmine..

i think rhubarb is good too.

check out the diptyque "essence of john galliano" candle.  it's kind of a mix of amber, tobacco 9 but not in the gross cigarette smoke way), and spice.
