my husband's work retreat was there too...i didn't get to go, but he said it was pretty nice, low key, nice beaches, etc. he even suggested we go there sometime on a vacation, so it must have been nice (he's very picky).
just FYI though...i don't know where you're staying, but he stayed at Amelia Island Plantation and no one's cell phones worked in their rooms. just a heads up to get a phone card if you need to call your hubby or anything. my husband called me collect and that was no fun on the phone bill.
I have been several times, and we almost got married there. Where are you staying? It is a very, very tiny beach town. The "downtown" area will take you 5 minutes to walk through the entire thing, but it is very charming. There are some fun places to eat downtown and a few cute shops. The Ritz is really the main thing there, if you are staying there you probably won't leave. It is Amelia Island Plantation is very nice too, but more of a "beach" home type of area. The best thing about Amelia is that it is nice, it isn't over run with touristy crap. Have a great time!
