My trip to India is kaput and we're going to Thailand instead. I'm searching for cotton flowy tops that covers the shoulders, a pair of comfy wedge sandals, and a casual cotton dress. Any ideas?
When I was preparing for my trip to Egypt I ran around for weeks trying to find clothes that were reasonably modest, but not ugly or frumpy. I NEVER shop at Old Navy, but as a last hope I went in there, and hit the jackpot. Anywho, I would say go to your nearest old nazy and just stock up. I was able to find some really light cotton button downs to wear over stuff, lightweight pants, etc. And now I'm just going to hang on to that stuff to wear on future trips.
Hey, when are you going? I will be in Thailand Sep 5-10!
I just went to Old Navy to stock up on my trip to Egypt and Thailand, too. Got some great skirts and flowy clothes that will help protect me from the sun.
September is the rainiest month of the year in Thailand (rainy season is from June to September/October). You should carry a small umbrella since you never know when you'll get caught in "scattered t-storms". It's about 5-10 degrees cooler in Chiang Mai than in Bangkok, but temps will mostly be in the 80s and low 90s during the day and high 60s to low 70s at night.
I never wear denim in this weather, and would stick to cotton/modal items.
I'd go to Old Navy as well as hitting the sale racks. I think Anthro may have some things that will work as well. I also like a lot of stuff from Shopbop's sale.
(this one with a belt or sash!)
Charlotte beach pants/capris (or knockoffs) are also good.
Some Anthro ideas. I think it's smarter to search the racks in-store though if you can.
In store, the J. Crew knit cotton skirts are 19.99.
You should also keep your eye out for the Target Paul & Joe kimono dress...that would be great for nighttime.
