Jeans for Pear Shaped People???
Permalink Closed

I just read the new In Style last night and there was an article on jeans for every body type. I got to pear shaped and read that there is a brand "Notify" that makes jeans for pear shaped people so you don't have size up to fit your bum in the jeans. They come in sizes 24-34 A,B,C. This is a great idea but not for $260 a pair at Nordies! Does anyone know of any other brands that do this? Or have experience with this brand?

I'm just curious because I'd never heard of this concept before.

I have never tried them, but GAP has a style of jeans called "curvy" fit.

I wear the curvy fit jeans from the Gap. They usually fit well, I just wish they had more washes. They have dark and not dark, it seems and thats it.

The Gap Curvy Fit does NOT work on me. I definitely have a bum and smaller waist, and the fit is horrible. It still gaps in the back of the jeans.

I have the same issue with Jeans because I also have a higher waist to hip ratio. The pairs that I have that work are: Lucky Brand Easy Rider, Joes Jeans Socialite, and Ag Jeans in Gemini fit (which are my favorite and I bought them cheap off of Ebay.) None of these have that annoying gap in the back.

ditto. I'm glad to hear that it's not just me. I hate trying on jeans worse than bathing suits....

Try Joe's Honey Booty Fit or People's Liberation Jeans.  I've also found that Paige Premium is flattering.

I don't like the Gap ones either. I was just wondering if anyone had heard of these before.

Gap curvy's are awful on me too. Another vote here for Joe's Jeans. They are a lifesaver.

I've never heard of the Notify concept (as far as I'm concered our rear ends vary in size just as much as our chests) and while I think it's good, I've never seen Notify be able to justfy its price point. They ALWAYS go on sale for $50-70 end of season.

For other curvy people jeans, I love Joe's Honey and Lover, as well as AG Legends and Angels

I'm curvy (smaller waist and bigger hips) and I actually think the Gap Long and Lean jeans fit me the best. Go figure.

have you ever tried jeans from demo?  now, i will say this and hopefully i am not offending anyone, but it seems like their clothing is aimed at african american people, so keeping the african american womans body and booty, i would imagine their jeans would have that effect maybe.

I echo the AG Angels mention. A favorite pair of jeans that I have, along with most of my similarly pear-shaped friends, are by Big Star. I never see or hear them mentioned by anyone (it's always about Citizens or True Religion or Sevens), but I have to say that these are the most universally flattering jeans that I've ever seen! Plus, they're "only" around $90.

the line i work at sells to demo and their target customer is urban teen - the jeans that we sell are definitely for girls with a smaller waist and bigger booty/thighs. *nunzi* i would try anyone of the urban labels (baby phat, apple bottoms, enyce, etc) the jeans are usually $50-$60 especially if you're not looking for ones that are all blinged out.

I completely agree that AG jeans are completely and totally flattering, not to mention really soft and comfortable.

They were the only brand of skinny jeans that actually worked for my body.

Joe's jeans in Muse.  AG's Angels are great but I dont own them.   I have BIG hips and smalllllll waist.   Gap's curvy jeans are awful-awful! they are still skinny in the thigh areas and gaps in the back.

I have hard time finding jeans too. I lately have been having some lucks with Levi's slouchy kind of jeans in bootcut or even straight legged. They run like 20-30 dollars at kohls. I also bought one Not Your Daughter's jeans and live in them. Not the ones they re currently selling at Nordstrom (ugly washes in my opinion!).

Just out of curiosity..

Does a pear shape mean your bust and waist measurements are smaller than your hip measurements?

I've always wondered what shape I am because I see those little rec's in magazines about what to wear if you're x body shape. I *think* I'm an hourglass because my bust and hips are both bigger than my waist..but I never really understood the rules.

Hourglass = larger chest, small waist, larger hips/butt/thighs. Considered ideal and those who have them won the body shape lottery.

Pear = smaller chest and waist, larger hips/butt/thighs. Most women are pears.

Hourglasses and pear-shapes have similar issues on bottom.

Ok, I'm an hourglass. That's funny, because for the longest time I used to look at those magazines and I thought I was the upside down triangle...it wasn't until very recently that I actually measured.

i have a booty and a smaller waist and my favorites are my Joe's.  I have the Muse and Socialite style.  Everyone usually says the Honey is the best fit- but it didn't work for me at all.

I've also had good luck when trying AG jeans.  For whatever reason, I've never bought them.
