Is anyone else seriously repulsed by the smell that store omits?
I dislike it so much that it seriously makes me gag a little whenever I'm in the mall and I get within 500 feet of that place. Why do they do that? Do they just have little vents all over that spray out that cologne?
OMG I am laughing so hard right now. You're right. I think they specially manufacture the clothes to smell a certain way.
I actually like the smell. Some of my BF's favorite stuff is from Abercrombie and he takes such good care of it that he smells sort of like it. Oh dear God, I know I'm better than to get suckered into liking Abercrombie as much as I do but I can never really help it.

I have only been in A&F once, and I got a headache. Aside from the fact that I don't like anything else about the store, I will never EVER step foot in there again because the music is too loud.

I came, I saw, I did a little shopping.
I hate the smell (and the music) soo much! They have to be pumping it in through the ventilation. Last time I went in was because I was shopping with a male friend. I felt like I could taste the cologne for the rest of the day!
I was actually talking to my friend about the smell of A&F (and Hollister) clothes today. It kind of makes me sick after awhile too. I was wondering if it was just me that thought their clothes all smelled a certain way. ( I guess not after reading this thread) I mean, does someone actually go out of their way to \ spray cologne all over all the clothes?

Ugh - I totally agree! I hate the smell and the music is ridiculous - you can't even hear yourself think in that store. I refuse to even go in there anymore.
I was wondering if they did that at all the stores! I don't think they spray the clothes, I thought they had some sort of vent or gadget that sprays their perfume by the entrance which explains why you smell it within 100ft of the place.
I dislike going in there because it's smelly, loud, and dark.

LMAO, if only it was that easy. No, we actually had to go around and hose down all the dress forms with perfume/cologne. I had to do the same thing at Banana Republic when they first introduced their perfume/cologne years ago.
I've never been to the store but I've smelled it when walking by and have not been tempted to go in. Their employees must suffer from terrible headaches.

that sucks. when i worked at american eagle and they first started pushing their fragrances, they had something we put in the vents to make the store smell. i think something must be wrong with my nose because i haven't noticed a really overwhelming smell at a&f, but the loud music drives me crazy.
I worked at Abercrombie this year for awhile, and while they don't have a machine that pumps perfume around the store and through all the vents, they do have a person go around and spray all the mannequins every single morning. I think they also might mist the clothes on the racks a bit. So the strength of the smell probably varies between each store. Also, they spray ALL the mannequins with the guy's fragrance ("Fierce"... I think...), so even the girls' clothes smell like cologne. And yes, the music is very loud. I only shop there now when I pick something out online and then go and get it.

I used to work at A&F years ago.. and every hour one of us would have to go around the store spraying the colognes on the manaquin forms and on the clothes.
