any recs for a good gift for a 1-year-old boy? Say, under $50? I don't want to get him clothes, b/c he's really tall for his age and I'd probably get the size wrong. This is for my BFF's son. Thanks!

I'm not the mom of anyone, but I have a recommendation... a Home Depot Big Digger. My father got one for my nephew a couple of years ago and he still pulls it out to play with (he has two now, because he loved it so much). My boyfriend and I got one for his nephew's first birthday last month, and it was, by far, the biggest hit of the party. Little boys seem to love them, and it's great because little guys can use it as a walker until they can ride-on. The best part is that it's under $40 at Toys 'R Us.

at that age, they are almost or already walking so think of something that can encourage that movement.  starting at about that age and still today, mine can't get enough of trucks, tractors, cars and also anything big that he can push/ride on.  he also has a bubble (lawn) mower that he loves, I think it was pretty cheap.  something with lots of buttons to push to make different sounds is also a good idea.
