Anyone else get like this?

Do you ever go through phases of hating your clothes? The past month or so I've been so unhappy with everything and spending a ridiculous amount of time in the mornings trying to find an outfit I like.

When you get like this do you purge? Go shopping? Evaluate your style? or does the feeling usually pass?

I'm going through this at the moment. I despise my spring/summer clothes. Mostly because they no longer fit into my lifestyle. My old clothes were from when I worked in retail as opposed to an office and I lived in jeans, camis and cardigans. I'm so bored with that. But I haven't really seen too much for summer that I actually wanted to buy this year, so it's been very frustrating. When I do find something I love and that will work with my life, I snap it up and work it into as many outfits as possible.

Yup!  Right now I feel like I have no basics and no stand-alone pieces - my entire closet falls into the no-mans-land between the two.  Nothing really works for layering, and it doesn't really work on it's own, either.  I need to find some more standout pieces that can still be mixed and matched so I don't end up with this awesome blazer that I can only wear with jeans and a certain pair of shoes ....

I'm feeling better about it since we moved - there's a lot of money floating around Denver and people like to show it off, so sometimes I felt uncomfortable in more casual, basic things.  I can also wear most of my stuff year round here with a certain amount of layering, which stretches everything much farther!

i was ok with my wardrobe until i started posting on thread style and realized that i have hardly anything that i would dare be seen in in front of this group of very stylish ladies.  especially after seeing FP and drew's posts.  i am utterly ashamed of my closet.  and since i didn't really get into style until a couple of months ago, most of my clothes are t shirts and jeans,  and tank tops and ummmm, that's abotu it.  so i am trying to catch up with the rest of the stylish you women around here.

I feel like this right now, I feel like most of my closet is trendy items, like from the cami/blazer phase, the shrug phase, the s/s jacket phase...etc

I am purging and trying to concentrate on more basics right now

I feel like this at the moment too. When I packed to come back to school, I threw in all the basic things I had so that it wouldn't take long to put outfits together. However, I'm sooooo bored now of wearing boring solid colors all the time and left all my fun stuff at home. (I didn't bring nearly enough jewelry or accessories, either, so there's nothing to make things more interesting.)

I haven't found any clothes I like this season really either, so I'm just eagerly anticipating bringing my fall clothes back and buying some new things.

ahhh I feel the same way! I can't find anything that I really like, and what I have just doesn't really do it for me anymore. I find myself wearing the same outfits over and over, because I'm too uninspired to try to find anything different. I have a few shirts I like, I wear the same ones all the time and just do laundry more often so I can wear them again. It's ridiculous. I never really put anything on anymore and go "WOAH! who's that hottie?" I just think, "this'll do."

well, i've just been getting disgusted with the amount of clothes i have...and that none of them are really "classics" that last awhile. i've been slowly purging and trying to streamline, but it's hard.

also a lot of my clothes don't even fit me anymore, so some days i just feel like starting from scratch.

This is EXACTLY how I feel. It's funny because I keep saying I'm going to buy more expensive clothes & streamline, but I just can't bring myself to do it. Working from home I've really figured out that if I had even 10 really terrific outfits to span any occassion that is all I really would need. Instead of have hundreds of pieces that I don't love & barely wear - I tend to grab for the same 20 things all the time (capris or jeans & a tee most of the time).

I cleaned out my closet yesterday. I was a size 2 last year and this year I gained weight. I had tons of skirts that were really expensive that no longer fit so I had to get rid of them. I got rid about 12 skirt and tons and tons of shirts and dresses.

I go through those phases sometimes.  Usually it's because I need to wash some laundry!  If that's not the problem, I start weeding out things I don't wear or are items that are worn out.  Next I evaluate what I have and what I should get that can really work with what I currently have or to make it better.

I feel like I look bad all the time, or I'm right on the edge. My old clothes don't fit me anymore. and they REALLY don't fit my lifestyle now - whihc is way casual. but I feel like I can't spend student loan money on clothes. And I know I will need office-worthy clothes again in a year. So right now I guess I'm just hanging in there. but it really feells crappy. I've decided to start splurging on some cute casual wear, just so I don't feel like such a schlub all the time. Plus, I can't wear my heels in this godawful walking town! God, what am I doing here?

Yes!! I am a bit in the duldrums with my wardrobe too, because I have gained about 7 lbs after diligently getting it off- I celebrated a little too much! Now alot of my clothing is too tight and I am uncomfortable. I have to get my butt back to Weight Watchers again, what a constant and ongoing pain in the a--!!  I am really unexcited about the styles coming for fall- so, I will just be adding basic sweaters, accesories like jewelry (something I rarely think about getting to enhance an outfit). Handbags( a nicer grade of leather, design-although cannot afford anything too extravagant). Its hard with bags because I will go to Macys, with a bag purchase in mind, usually my budget is around 125.00-150.00, and I dont like anything in this price range.Theres either cheap looking bags with contrast stitching, that I just always hate, it looks cheap to me, lots of  gaudy junk all over them, or the construction just seems so shoddy. I walk over to the cases with the Coach, LV, etc... and it is so apparent that you get what you pay for. Pricey bags are expensive, but the lines, materials, they are beautiful. Anyways, I will be trying to find a couple bags that will satisfy me in my price range. And last but not least shoes. I am turning into a real shoe hound, after years of not thinking they were that important- I have a lot of catching up to do.
