I wanted to announce that I made my dreaded ob/gyn appointment which I have been putting off for over 2 years and it is thanks to Detroit. I able petrified of doctors and especially the gyno. I am embarrassed to admit that the only time I ever go to the ob/gyn is if I am pregnant (which I am NOT) so this is a huge deal for me. I am so scared of going and finding out that something is wrong and now that I have waited almost 3 years I am especially scared that they will find something wrong.
I'm probably the only stupid person who puts these visits off and I am now going to make an effort to go more regularly because like Detroit said, early detection is everything.
I know this is a stupid announcement but maybe it will inspire someone else to book their appointment too because if I can do it anyone can!

nope. I haven't been to a doctor (ANY doctor!) in, oh... 4 years? i think the last time was for an exam before undergrad. Oh wait, the one and only time I've ever been to a ob-gyn was in college- so maybe 3 years ago?
Yeah, I should probably set myself up with some appointments when I move...
I'm going to make an ob/gyn appointment, too. I've been putting it off because we've moved several times during the last couple of years, which I know is a poor excuse.
You're not the only one who puts off going to the doctor. I hate all kinds of doctors-- gynos, eye doctors, dentists (although, I'm anal about my teeth, so I go regularly anyway). I know I need to go to my family doctor for a physical (I'm years overdue) and I need to make a gyno appointment (also overdue).
I finally made an eye doctor appointment after not going for two years. I have an appointment tomorrow. The only reason I'm going is because 1-800Contacts requires that you have an updated prescription every two years. Boohiss.
I think I have a general paranoia about any doctor finding anything wrong with me b/c I grew up in a house with my grandparents who had some health problems.
I know this is probably awful AND none of my business, but I the one thing that keeps me going - is that I have to go to the doctor every year so she'll prescribe my birth control. I'm assuming none of ya'll are on the pill? If you are & you aren't going to the doctor- I'd love to know how your getting around it!
kudos to all of you for going.
