I really like the Vince leather jacket Andy wears in the final scene of The Devil Wears Prada.




Do you think this one from Gap would be a good substitute? I think it's the buttons (vs. zipper on the Vince one) that makes me not like it as much. The leather is very soft and nice though.






If you don't like this one, do you have any other suggestions?? Thanks!

I saw the Gap one last week IRL and I really liked it.  I think it looks sharp.

I think its cute overall, but I'm not totally crazy about the pockets. Like the buttons, though!

honestly, i've never liked leather jackets with buttons for women so i don't feel it's a good substitute, but that's a personal hangup more than anything. I do like the distressed leather look...it does look very soft.


I really like that jacket Andy's wearing too and have my eye on trying to nab a similar Mike and Chris Fall '06 style at their sample sale (crosses fingers for overstock!).

side note, i have that jacket from vince in the light butter color- it was such a b*tch to find and that was beginning of spring.  i actually stalked someone months ago in the subway wearing the color that was in DWP- haha =)  thats how breathtaking it is in person.

the vince is amazing irl. I think the vs one elle posted is a decent alternative though- I like it better than the gap one.

Oh I LOVE it. It could be mine if I just had $640 :)

Maybe I will get it the VS one as a reasonable compromise.

Also, maybe this is a dumb question-- but when is it okay to wear black and brown together? I really love the look Andy is wearing in that picture-- so perfect for fall. But I'm never sure when it's okay to wear black and brown together and when it's a faux pas. Any tips for knowing the difference?

I think it's ok as long as it looks intentional- not like you got dressed in the dark and tried to "match" them. I think the jacket really pulls her outfit together because it pulls the brown up throughout it- I don't think ti would look nearly as good with just the black shirt and brown boots.
