I loved it...and loved Johnny Depp. Won't say more than that to protect the unfortunate who have yet seen this. Seriously, get your a** to the theater, Johnny Depp is hot!

(I might be developing a stalker-like crush...I have seen three JD movies in the past week-- Pirates 2 and finally watched Finding Neverland and Chocolate)

Ha! I actually didn't get to see it until Sunday. I was planning to go on Friday, but I fell asleep. Yes, I'm crazy and my whole office knows it. I have a JD mousepad at my desk and he's on my screensaver for my laptop at work.

I saw it, I LOVED Johnny...but I did not like the movie! Johnny was awesome but I thought the movie was sort of lame and I am convince Keira is anorexic and Orlando cannot act.

I heard Keith Richards is making a cameo as Johnny/Jack Sparrow's father in the third movie. Johnny has said he modeled Jack on Keith, that could be either way cool or a major disapoointment.

Keith Richards is listed in the credits for the third movie on Internet Movie Database. And as for Keira nightly being anorexic-- I heard that the corset she wore whittled her waist down to 18 inches!

I agree with you Ally. I thought the beginning was a bit lame but the end was great.

WARNING POSSIBLE SPOILERS!!!!

I liked it but at the same time it drove me crazy. It drove me crazy because I have already seen this movie....it is called STAR WARS!!!

*The tribal parts: exactly like Return of the Jedi- Jack and Will tied on the poles~Han and Luke captured by the Ewoks, the prisoners in the net thing~also Ewoks, Jack trying to blow out the fire~Han Solo, the tribe thinking Jack was a god~the Ewoks with C3-PO

*Bootstrap Bill looked exactly like Darth Vader at the end of Jedi with the helmet off.

*the face in the wall of the Flying Dutchman~Han Solo frozen in carbonite

*large round objects rolling and tribes chasing~ ala Indiana Jones, which is not Star Wars but it is still Harrison Ford

*Commodore Norrington betraying them to help himself~ Lando Calrissian

*blowing up the Cracken~ blowing up the Deathstar

*Cutler Beckett ~ the Emperor

and the biggest one....The Cracken looked exactly like the Sarlacc monster on Tatooine that Jabba the Hut tries to feed Han and Luke to.

Don't get me wrong, I did enjoy it. Some of it was just a little too similar. And some parts I was a bit confused....namely the dice game. And there was a bit too much CGI, I didn't like the sea creature men. However the very end more than made up for the lame-ish parts.

And BTW I do know I am a Star Wars geek, ok?

I must say, I was underwhelmed. I love Johnny Depp with an unfailing commitment. Which is why I like the movie. HOWEVER, it seemed to try WAY too hard and it was difficult to see everyone's driving forces. It seemed longer than it needed to be, and the curse this time was a little preposterous. I just don't know. Am I the only one who didn't like it so much?

Overall, I really enjoyed it.  I love Johnny Depp and I find Captain Jack's eyeliner oddly sexy.    It was fun to watch, but I think that it ran a bit long and I thought the ending was a bit abrupt, especially since the sequel won't be released until next summer.  The ending made it feel more like a TV show episode than a movie.  Also, someone please feed Kiera Knightly!

here's what i didn't like....

**********SPOILERS***************

why in the HELL did I sit through a 2 1/2 hour movie to NOT find out what the hell happened.... as the time ticked away, i kept thinking- okay when are they wrapping this up... when are they wrapping this up... and nada... the didn't... SO freaking annoying.

the boyfriend likened it to Lord of the Rings, except with Lord of the Rings you knew exactly where it was going... and if you didn't- you could read the books.

grrrrr... it just really peeved me that i watched a 2.5 hour trailer for the next movie... which isn't due out until NEXT summer.

although i was somewhat pacified by the fact that JDepp and OBloom are freaking HOT in the movie!

Spoilers (of a sort)---

I do agree that this movie definitly wasn't as good as the first and that it was really just a long trailer to the third but I still loved it to bits. Except I don't think the dog should have been left with the jungle island natives, he should have been saved somehow.

Davy Jones and his crew were actually my favorite part- I loved the special effect-type constuming. I felt it fit quite well with the story line of how Davy Jones gets his crewmembers. Did you guys notice that the starfish and other sea creature stuff actually grew on Bootstrap Bill throughout the movie? It started with just slight scarring in the very beginning to the whole starfish at the end.

I also am a huge fantasy/myth geek and loved that they added the Kraken into the story. The Kracken is a centuries and centuries old myth...mainly based on giant squid. Sailors of long ago actually did tell stories about being taken by the Kraken. And even more nerdier on my part...I loved that the pirates, Pintel and Ragetti (ya know..the funny ones, Gareth from the Office and the other) had a discussion on how to pronounce Kracken- I've often debated with myself how to say it. That scene really "spoke" to me.

BTW: Did you all know that JD's son goes by the name of Jack? I'm wondering which came first? Son was born in 2002 but film came out in 2003 so filming would have been around the time of son's birth so...? AND (thanks to wikipedia) he wrote some song for the movie "Once Upon a Time in Mexico" but the credits list the author as Tonto's Giant Nuts!

Bwahaha! That's so very JD.

Also, regarding his son Jack, that tatoo that he has that says Jack is a real tatoo and he said that it's for his son.

Some of the special effects and animation were a little over the top, but I was expecting that.

I loved, loved, loved the end and in a world filled with predictable endings, this one got me! I never would have guessed that Barbossa is back! I can't wait to find out how he got there!

Agreed, this was a long trailer for the third installment and not as good as the first, but the third one will probably be amazing. I've found that in the cases of trilogies, I almost always tend to like the third one the best, including both Star Wars trilogies and The Lord of the Rings, among others.

I can't wait until all three are out on dvd and I can have a Pirates viewing party and watch them all back to back. I am such a geek.

Oh my gosh. I completely agree. He is just hot all-around in this role and this costume, but I have a thing for his eyeliner. Not so coincidentally, I actually started dating the guy I'm with right now when we talked a lot at a costume party. He was a pirate. He had eyeliner (JD inspired, of course). And I swooned.
