Unpopular celebs you like

The Shannen Doherty thread reminded me that there are a lot of celebs who get a bad rap (often deservedly) but we love them anyway. Any favorites of yours? My faves:

1. Pam Anderson - I am sorry, but I really do love her. She doesn't take herself too seriously, and she's done a lot for animal rights.
2. Jenny McCarthy - I think she's funny. I've liked her since she was on that MTV game show.
3. Shannen Doherty. I don't know why. I just like her.
4. Marilyn Manson. I do think he's scary and I don't like his music, but I've read some of his writing and he's very intelligent, especially compared with most stars.

* I like Britney. In college my roommate and I went to see her in concert and she put on a great show. I know she's messed up and trashy, yet she still amuses me.

*Jessica Simpson. I think her father's a creep and I can't stand her sister, but I like her.

*Random, but I know a lot of people don't like Kristen Cavalleri from the OC but I wish I could be have been as cool and confident at 18. Plus I like her style and think she's pretty. Much more interesting than Lauren.

I Pam. Does anybody remember back when she used to do a little writing for Jane magazine? (back when it was cool and still clinging to it's Sassy roots) I've loved her for years and her writing really won me over. I think she is a great mom and an great woman. She might have questionable clothing taste a lot of the time but I think she has her head on straight with a lot of stuff. And besides that...without the makeup she's actually really gorgeous. And I agree with the animal rights stuff, she's not a celeb who spouts a cause every other week...the animal rights thing is really important to her and she's intelligent about it as well.

Other than that...I can't really think of very many other celebs that I like that fit into this category.

I've always really loved Jessica Simpson. I don't even enjoy her music too terribly much, but I think she's so pretty and sweet. I loved Newlyweds - I don't have cable in my apt but whenever I had to chance to watch it I would like a fiend. I know she can be flighty, but I still wish we could be friends.

I don't like her, but I must admit that I was singing along to Paris Hilton's song yesterday Of course, I also realized halfway through that you never actually just hear her voice - it's always a chorus singing it! So maybe I don't have to feel guilty. Maybe she's actually really awful. I'd be interested to know if all the rest of the songs she put out are a chorus

I like JS, too.  And I think that it's because she lets other people think and make decisions for her that she's fallen from grace in the first place and not because she's a bitch.

Lindsey Lohan.  I don't necessarily like her, but I like seeing what she's wearing.  And if her boobs are fake, some doc did a fine job and I want their phone number!

I love Nicole Richie.  I love her style, personality, and she seems like she would be a fun, cool girl to hang out with.

Avril Lavigne. I loved her through fake punk and I know she's a pop singer not a punk rocker. I just adore her.

Jessica Simpson. I don't love her but I know that she's been very wronged in the media. My BF met Jess and her dad in 2002 and saw them again right before Newlyweds first started. I think they are victims of overexposure, not bad people. Oh, and I adore Ashlee in all her fake-singer and fake-punkness. I just can't help it!

Courtney Love. I'm always rooting for her.

Madonna...I know she's not unpopular, per se, but I get a lot of shit for liking her among my intelletual friends.

I'm not a fan of Mischa Barton's acting or taste in boys, but I want her closet (even a lot of the fug) and her body so bad it's not even funny.

Nicole Ritchie - I love her.  I think she's saracastic and hilarious.

Ashlee Simpson - I know most of you can't stand her, but I think she's adorable.  On the other hand, I can't stand Jessica!

Tommy Lee - I think a lot of women especially don't like him because he comes off as a pig, but I find him funny and just like a little kid in a grown man's body.  He amuses me.

I'm sure I'll think of more later and come back.

Josh Duhamel. From the terribly acted show Las Vegas, and my #1 favorite movie Win a Date with Tad Hamilton. He was also in some soap opera that I never watched that my best friends were obsessed with all through High School. They went to meet him and asked me to come and I was like "no way" Little did I know he would be #1 on my celeb hottie list now!! I just can't believe he is engaged to that slob Fergie from BEP!!! I don't care if he isn't an Oscar winner, I just think he's dreamy.

total ditto.  also, lindsay lohan. i think she's a fine actress, i always enjoy her movies and i feel bad for her with regard to the way the media has scrutinized her body since she was like nine.

I've always loved Jessica Simpson. I think that she is genuinely a nice person and went through a difficult time and had the bad luck of being on the media's bad side. And Ashlee is growing on me, too.

i like most of these people, even if its simply for keeping me amused.  ditto on the kristin cav and lindsey lohan- i don't think they're the greatest people but i admire their confidence at a young age and under such scrutiny.  I've always liked pam anderson and marilyn manson, and i am always secretly liking the fugly style of kristin dunst and mischa barton.  the only person on this list i've become a non-fan of is nicole ritchie- i HATE her character on this season's simple life, way worse than Paris, and i never ever thought i'd say that.

Lindsay Lohan. I don't care how many "mountains of fresh Columbian powder" (to quote the Fug girls) she skis down, I love her. And her magically disappearing/reappearing boobs. And her mad freckles.

Oh, and I love Angelina Jolie. I don't know if she's really "unpopular," per se, but a lot of people definitely loathe her. But she's the only celebrity I actually find to be a really interesting person.

I adore Angelina Jolie! There's just something about her that makes her seem so real compared to other celebrities.

I love Ashlee too. She's cute and I don't care what anyone says, I adore her new nose.

I don't know if he counts as a "celebrity" per say, but I love that guy Dog the Bounty Hunter. I can't believe the things that his wife wears, with her huge hair and long nails and her enormous breasts. How can you not love a guy who wears beaded feathers in his hair and busts fugitive criminals, c'mon?

He has a show on A&E. He is an ex-con who has become a bail bondsman and tracks down fugatives who jump their bail. He has something like 12 kids. He's totally cool. He's such a trailerpark superhero.

There is something about Britney that always keeps me interested in seeing what she is going to do next. I know it is sad!!

I agree with the others about Pam Anderson. She seems really sweet and she was so pretty when she was first starting out.

Shopchicago33-I agree with you about Tommy Lee. I love him. My hubby, my mom and I had a chance to meet him a few months ago and he was such a sweetheart. My mom even told all of her friends that he was such a cutie and was flirting with her! It was really funny!!!
