Ok, so I don't really "do" casual very well, and I've never head a job with a loose dress code before so I'm seriously stressing and need your help!
My new job has a casual dress code. That's pretty much all I know- I've never seen the office (interview was elsewhere because I forgot my ID and they wouldn't let me past the front desk of the state office building ) but when I asked what the dress code was, he told me casual- no real dress code. Jeans are fine, just no beachwear. Help! I still want to look polished and professional (dress for the job you want, not the one you have, right?) but it's a young office so I don't want to be too stuffy either. Basically my entire wardrobe right now is dressy business-casual.
Can you help me come up with two outfits for my first week? I'll be starting on a Thursday, so I need something to wear then and then Friday (I'll let myself go a little more casual on Friday). How do I look casual but still professional without looking too stuffy?
When I think "casual" I think pretty much any goes. Here are some casual (in my opinion) outfits that aren't sloppy and look professional enough without being stuffy for a casual enviroment.
I tried this on yesterday and it's amazing. Casual fabric in a unique design. Love it. Oh, it does cover to top of your shoulders, in case that's a concern. $68 I think darker wash jeans are more dressy than light jeans, so if you want to wear jeans that's the way to go. Very nice pump, would look PERFECT with that top. Available in a few colors, too. Fornarina, $86 at zappos.
Really cute. $68 Different and versatile! $118 $118
for cooler weather. $78 $228 I'm unsure if these would be appropriate, but they are awesome. by Hype, $86 at zappos.
i like all those picks. i would also not do jeans the first day. i'm jealous, i think business casual is pretty easy. i am probably going to business professional w/ a labcoat, so maybe you can help me.

I LOVE the first outfit that kmd posted...but I agree with everyone, not jeans on the very first day. Everyone will be looking especially hard at you on the first day and it'll be better to possibly exceed their expectations instead of not even meeting them! I'd get a few pairs of dark jeans for the days you do want to wear those - they look much more polished.
What about some f21 dresses? I know Kitty always finds great ones. They wouldn't be jeans, but the f21 dresses often seem casual enough that you could just wear them with a wedge sandal and it would probably be perfect!
