opinions on dresses

it's been so ridiculously hot in LA the past couple of weeks that all i can stand to wear are shorts and dresses.  so far i've been looking at these:

development, on sale for about $75:

ella moss, on sale for $83.50:

i would love to get the ella moss dress in dark brown, but it's on sale at intermix for $99 (v. 83.50 for the black one), and i'm not sure if it's worth an extra $16.    any opinions?

I think the ella moss is worth it, especially if you're already willing to spend $75. It's infinitely prettier!

do you live near a barney's co-op? of late i've become obssessed (sp?) with james perse dresses. the cotton is sooo soft, and they have a ton on sale. i picked up two recently for $60 & $50. i got this one and another style with thin straps. they also had the one ae knocked off on sale, but i prefer the cotton on the james perse since it seemed sturdier than the ae one.

I'm a HUGE fan of Development and I adore the first dress. Where did you find it at that price?

i'm also a huge fan of Development. the dress is from le train bleu (but go through the link for the regular dresses, not the sale ones -- for some reason it's not listed there) -- it's on sale for $99, and then the luckymag code gives you an additional 25% off.  hth!

Definitely the Development one. I think it'd also be cute with a wide belt. You could even wear it as a top over jeans in the winter when it gets colder. I just think that it's also less trendy, and a lot nicer looking than the Ella Moss one.

I love the development one.  I think it is much more special than the ella moss one.

I like them both. That said, I tried on the Forever21 version of the Ella Moss dress and didn't find it very flattering. I am sure the EM one is much nicer, but the style made me look sort of wide.
