Do you smoke? What about your SO? Your parents?

I have never smoked cigarettes (other than trying one) but my bf used to, but quit before we met. My parents don't smoke either.

I have tried cigarettes once. I never intend to touch on again.

I do not have the capability to breathe in such a way as to actually enjoy it. My BF and I both find the smell absolutely repulsive...people smoking cigarettes absolutely ruined one of my birthday dinners because we were seated next to a smoking couple that sent the smoke in our direction. At least that couple tried to stop smoking when they heard my choking coughs nearby.

My father was a heavy smoker and drinker when I was younger. He quit smoking when I was around 6 or 7 but those two things nearly killed him.

Nope, nope and nope.

Although my grandma use to and she made me try one when I was like 5 in an effort to make me dislike them and I puffed almost the whole thing away, only thing was I didn't exhale and still to this day I remember that horrible choking cough that followed

Nope. I think they're horrible. The weird thing is, almost everyone I've been with long-term smoked either heavily or occasionally...

No, No, No.

I watched my aunt die of lung cancer that she had gotten from smoking since she was a young teen. I was about 13 when she died and after seeing that I have never once tried to smoke.

Nope- don't smoke. Never tried it and never want to. Parents didn't either. My bf is a social smoker.

I don't really smoke, I do every once in a while, especially if I'm drinking, but maybe only once a month or so. This makes me sound like some kind of old man, but I actually smoke a pipe every once in a while, I got one with a friend and we get a kick out of it, but I only smoke it with him when he's in town a few times a year.

My parents don't smoke, but I've had boyfriends who did. It doesn't really bother me. In fact, as much as I hated that my ex smoked because it's bad for you etc etc, I also kind of liked it because if I was at his house, and all his roommates and friends were all around and I couldn't drag him off to be alone, I'd go outside with him while he smoked and it was like a little escape from any kind of craziness inside, I could just talk to him for a minute.

Last summer I started smoking a little, it started as just a casual thing, but then I got a few free packs at a dance club, and of course it just got worse...I realized it was the worst when I would actually have a craving for a cigarette and I would just sit in my windowsill and smoke them, hoping that my friends who live next door wouldn't see. I got really scared that I would become a smoker, and immediately gave all my cigarettes away. I still get the urge to buy them sometimes, but I'm scared because I have no self control

a little bit longer of an answer than I think you might've wanted

nope.  I never tried one, my parents never smoked, and my bf quit right as we began dating so he never smoked around me and I never found out he even smoked until months after he quit from his teammates/friends.

I too watched a family member die of cancer from smoking for many years and heard stories of my grandfather's suffering from lung cancer so I have never wanted to try one.  I am also scared of not having any self control and becoming addicted.

I've never smoked because honestly, I really like the smell and I feel like if I started, I would never stop b/c I have no self control. A few of my friends smoke though, and while it's awful for their health, I feel like it's their choice to make as long as it's an informed decision. I would never date a smoker though b/c while I enjoy the smell, the taste is a whole different story.

I don't smoke, and neither do my hubby or my parents. A good friend of mine is a smoker, though, and has been for about 15 years - and in my early twenties I sometimes smoked a couple of cigarettes when we went to a bar together. I hate the smell now and have no desire to ever smoke again.

When I used to do a lot of drugs when I was younger I'd smoke anywhere from 2-3 packs a day. I was a Camel girl. I haven't smoked in about 8.5 years though. My boyfriend has never touched a cigarette in his life. My mom used to smoke when she was younger but she quit before she even met my dad. My dad smokes a tobacco pipe.

The weird thing is that sometimes smoking is still really attractive to me, but most of the time it disgusts me. It's insane how something can still have such a hold on you after almost a decade!

No, no, and er...used to.

I smoked socially for maybe a month, in college. Decided it wasn't worth it. DH, AFAIK, has never smoked.

I grew up in a smoking household - mom, dad, bro all smoked. And I think Dad *still* does occasionally, even after having had bladder cancer (a major cancer for smokers), which has a 50% recurrence rate. :(

It's funny, but I grew up with it, and I guess was used to the smell - in the house, on my clothes, in my hair, etc. It never bothered me until I moved out to my first apartment. Then I could barely stand to come back home for even the shortest visit. I'm so glad they've all stopped, for the most part.

no, no, and eh. My dad never did, my Mom did when she was young (18ish) and then again in her 20s because it was the only way she was allowed a break at work (they wouldn't allow coffee breaks but had no problem if you wanted to go outside for a smoke. ).

My in-laws smoke and it's gross. They live in the tiniest little house with no ventilation and it just reeks. I can barely stand to be there- I start choking the second I step through the door and feel like I stink of smoke even if I only stay 10 minutes. DH hates it- he grew up with that but thinks its disgusting. I've smoked maybe 5 cigarettes my entire life, and only when I've been completely plastered. The last time, a congressman called me out for holding it stupidly and said that I was obviosuly a social smoker. After that I don't think I ever will again!

I have never smoked. My dad smoked for 35 years. Luckily, he hasn't had any health issues. He quit about 8 years ago.

I hate the smell of smoke and I hate going to the bars or clubs for DH's shows anymore because I hate dealing with smokers. Most of the smokers I have encountered are incredibly rude and will just blow smoke right in your face. I am repulsed by it.

i smoke, my bf smokes, and both my parents smoked...dad quit ~15 years ago but still smokes the occasional cigar.  mom died at age 46 of lung cancer, 5 years ago this sunday.  my maternal grandmother died of lung cancer too, at age 62.  if my younger sister ever starts to smoke i will kill her.

i am a stupid idiot.

I've never been a smoker.  I've smoked two cigarettes in my entire life, and both times were were in college when I was wasted at Myrtle Beach.

DH used to be a smoker, mainly because he could take a break that way when he worked at Starbucks.  He smoked for a few months after we moved in together (never in the apartment though) and even though he never smoked much, it was a BIG deal to me.  I flat out told him I wouldn't marry him if he continued to smoke, and I meant it.  He's 8 years older than me and I told him I didn't want him getting out of our marriage early by dying of cancer.    He stopped and we got married a few months after that.

My dad used to smoke a bit before I was born, but quit long before I was on the scene.  Growing up in San Diego, I wasn't used to seeing people smoke a lot, but that sure has changed since moving to North Carolina!  I swear, we'll be the last state to ever pass any anti-smoking in restaurant bills.

I'm a bit of a social smokers.  A couple of my girlfriends smoke, so I'll often have a cigarette when I'm around them at a party or whatever.  I'm fully aware of the health hazards, but since a pack of smokes last me three months, I'm not worrying about it too much.

My DH doesn't smoke and my parents don't either.  I'm glad that I don't have heavy smokers in my life.  I really enjoy the occasional cigarette and I'm sure I'd smoke a lot more if I was around smokers more.

No, no, sorta no.

I've never even tried a cigarette. The smell is gross, it's deadly, and it's filthy (ashes, cigarette butts on the ground).

My dad smoked for 1-2 years before I was born, not he's an avid anti-smoker. In high school a number of my friends smoked, so basically I had to second-hand-smoke if I was going to hang out with them. That was actually the catalyst for me "breaking up" with my best friend. She had always been anti-smoking b/c her dad was a smoker. Then she randomly starts smoking... I guess she thought it was cool.
