Bare Minerals?
Permalink Closed

Has any one had a bad experience with them. I just bought the id bare minerals and the mineral veil and my skin has gone crazy. It is like my pores are being clogged beyond belief. Could it be that my skin just needs to adjust or should I just stop using it now. I wanted to try them because I was hoping for an alternative that was lighter on my skin so I could not wear foundation at all, I guess that idea is shot.

After using Mary Kay (I tried to love it but my forehead kept looking like a  star crunch), and MAC (liked it but needed something less cakey) B.E. has been wonderful.

If you got it from Sephora you should have no prob, returning it. Sorry it didn't work out!I'm in love w/ this stuff.

i would try letting your skin get used to it.  you are probably using way too much.  everyone does at first.  it is easy to think your not getting enough on, but really you should just put a little on and then walk away from the mirror for a couple of minutes and then come back and you can tell a lot better how much you really have on.  i have been using bare minerals for a year and love it.  once you get the hang of it, it is the best makeup.

I am pretty sure I am not using too much, I am being very sparing. I will give it another week or so and see what happens, I want it to be as good as everyones says, my skin needs a break. I hope I get the hang of it too, it doesnt look nearly as nice as when the sa did it for me.

How do you apply it?

I work it in to the skin with a good kabuki brush to get the glow-y BE look. I dip my brush into a small amount that I've poured onto the lid from the container. I then buff it in in circular motions very gently and rapidly (does that make sense?). Once you work it in, it should look like your skin but without imperfections.

The first time I tried BE, I would use the regular foundation brush they sell and brush it on like I was painting my face. It just kinda sits there then and doesn't really help the skin out either.

I just started using the foundation maybe two weeks ago.  I have not had a problem with it at all.  Maybe you aren't doing something right?  Maybe it's the brush?  Just a few taps of it in the lid, swirl the brush, tap excess of brush, apply in light quick circular motions.

I love BE but if you skin is reacting that strongly - AND that's the only thing you've changed - then I say stop using it. Your skin is telling you something. If you've changed anything else (face wash, diet, etc), then I'd try to isolate which change is causing the problem before deciding that BE doesn't work for you.

I have very sensitive skin and this is one of the best things I've ever found for it.  I was thinking though - have you started using the lotion that comes with the starter pack?  Maybe you are 1) allergic to the lotion (I don't use it), 2) applying the powder too quickly after using (any) lotion, 3) not cleaning the brush which then has lotion/face oils/foundation caked on (am a culprit myself.

Really the minerals are really gentle - but I hate the lotion that it comes with.  HTH!

I had the same bad reaction to them... my face even got red and itchy around the hairline.  It appears BE has Bismuth Oxychloride in the makeup, which creates an allergic reaction in many (guess we might be in that many).  I stopped using the stuff and my skin went back to normal in a little less than a week.
