I need some new music for my iPod. I have gone through a bunch of old music posts and gotten suggestions but I am such a music nut, I need more more more...

So any music recs? I've been listening to alternative (I guess) lately; Death Cab, The Strokes, etc but I like a bit of everything- pop, folk, even some cool country. Old, new whatever- I just want music!

Lately, I've been listening to world lounge music. I like:

  • Bebel Gilberto: raspy and catchy Brazilian (try the remixes too!)
  • Paris Combo: French lyrics, but the music is a mix of Latin, electronic, and other stuff
  • Gotan Project: electronic, jazzy, Latin, and eclectic
  • Kings of Convenience: not really world lounge, but they are awesome with beautiful guitar playing (try their remixes too)

On, the rock side of things, I've been listening to:

  • !!! (chikchikchik): they are so fun to dance to, and they're even political
  • The Futureheads: fun, British, garage rock
  • Belle and Sebastian: the newest album is so catchy
  • Broken Social Scene: again, the newest album is awesome and even danceable (and they're from Canada!)
  • French Kicks: sweet songs that rock out, too

I don't know. I've been all over the place music-wise lately.

my newest discovery is Feist. She's absolutely wonderful. I think I could safely say she is a "if you like Imogen Heap..." artist. Their music style and voices are different, but they're both very distinctive, fresh-sounding female singers. Love her!

Also, I like the new Keane and the new Snow Patrol.

ETA: also, Kathleen Edwards is another one I just discovered recently. She's incredible.

ITA. I don't know if she's called "neo-country" or what, but it has a slight country sound to it. I HATE country music, but I LOVE Kathleen.

I used to listen to their album over and over on my drive to work on the pacific coast highway.  Between looking at the ocean and listening to their music I was stress free;)

I got to to seem them perform in LA with several other groups.  They seemed self-conscious, and I had to strain to hear them, but it was still good.
