buy to dye?
Permalink Closed

I found a perfect pair of leather flats at the greatest price but in the most stupid color...icky, icky light green. I'm thinking about buying them to have dyed chocolate brown or maybe a dark red. Has anyone ever had leather shoes dyed? I've only had experience with those satin wedding shoes to match a bridesmaid dress (am I dating myself, lol?)  and really wonder how leather dyeing turn out.  I have no idea of cost either, a general idea would be great. TIA

I really don't know, could you call a cobbler or something and ask them if it's possible?

My Chanel ballet flats were originally tan leather with a black cap toe, but the previous owner (who is a friend of mine) had the tan portion dyed black about 15 years ago. The dye has held up very well. I've never re-dyed that area since I've had them (3 years).

I would take them the the best cobbler in your town though, unless you're not afraid of ruining them.

Thanks you guys, I did call the premeir shop in town, they gave a go ahead but I wanted to get some "street experience" :) Lilykind, I just remembered that you posted about the Chanel flats...sounds like I may give it a try. Thanks!
