EDIT: The final choice at the end of the thread..


Okay, I've been trying to figure out what to wear with these shorts for a going-out outfit, but I keep getting stuck.

I decided I needed a heel (I can handle a high one if it's a wedge), so I picked these up from Target today. Do they work with the shorts? I've gotten multiple suggestions of wearing a slide on wedge, to elongate the leg, but I slide out of those types of shoes every time I wear them. I pretty much NEED to have an ankle strap for support/stability (and those are important if I'm out drinking in these)

I also don't know what color or style of top to wear with them if I keep the shoes. I'm thinking I definitely need something girly & flirty up top though. The tops I'm wearing in the pics below are NOT what I will wear out, but I just tried them on to help with the color & style decision.

Any opinions or advice?

Personally, I like them together... it's a little unexpected, but in a good way.  I'm with you about the top, though... should be something colorful, flowy, and way femme.  I say go for it!

I think the shoes look fine with the shorts, they might be slightly too work-clunky for going out in though. Perhaps something with a ankle wrap rather than a t-strap would be better? Something like this (all from zappos):

And I'm thinking a gold sparkly top or, hmm...what about jewel tones (and yes, I know that jewel tones are more fallish!)? Those shorts are a brownish tweed right? I think the top needs to be fairly fitted since the shorts are slouchy.

I like the wedge and the shape of the shoe, but the closed toe makes them seem to "heavy" IMO. I really like relrel's ideas! Cute shorts btw.

CarrieS, I like your second choice shoes. They should look pretty good with the shorts. They aren't closed toe nor T-strapped which were the probs I was having with the first choice. Have you thought about shirts yet?
