Its my mom's birthday next week and as usual, I have no ideas what to get her. When I asked her what she would like she said (as usual) "oh sweetie, don't get me anything." (Do we have an eye-rolling emoticon?) Typical Mom.


So my only idea was this...In September she is taking me on vacation with her to Hawaii (where we have been many times before, I think this will be my 8th or 9th trip). Would it be corny if I gave her a "certificate" for dinner at her favorite restaurant there? Its quite fancy and I know she'd love it.


We are taking her for dinner here, but it'll be with the whole family- that would just be us two. My only other thoughts were a spa day (which I have gotten for her before) or a gc for her favorite clothing store- but she has more clothes than anyone I know.


 Would that be good do you think?

I think it's a great idea! We took my dad on a trip for his birthday, and his employees gave him something similar. He really enjoyed it.

I was totally gonna suggest something to do with your Hawaii trip. I know it's not for a while but this trip is sorta a "special" trip for you two, right? Like a mother-daughter bonding type thing? Anyway, yeah...I would say the gift certificate would be great...but you might wanna think about something small as well since it won't be for a couple of months that she gets to use the GC. Perhaps something from The Body Shop? Perhaps beach themed to go with the GC for the restaurant in Hawaii?

Moms are impossible to shop for.  Mine does the whole "you don't need to get me anything!" thing too and it drives. me. crazy.
