Opinions on Kooba Sienna
Permalink Closed

Does anyone own a Kooba Sienna bag? I am thinking I will save up for one, since I've wanted one for quite a while now. What's the leather, size, quality, weight, lining like?

Do you think this is a classic style that I can use for years to come? I don't want to invest $600 in a bag that's too trendy.

Lastly, should I buy it in the fall or winter? I don't know if the Sienna style ever goes on sale. Do you know of any sites that accept coupon codes on the bag? I know Active Endeavors do not.

Thanks!

I love my Kooba Sienna, I have it in the "luggage" color but i don't think they make that color anymore.  I got it by accident actually.  Drew, a fellow st'er, was having problems w/ Kitson's customer service and since I'm in LA, I just went to the store and picked one up for her.  Come to find out, Kitson got their act together and finally shipped the one she ordered to her and so then I was able to keep the one I picked up!  I was soo happy because when I was sending it to her I remember wishing I could keep it and my wish came true!  Anyway, this all occurred a little more than a year ago when the bag was selling out like crazy everywhere!  And it's still a great seller because it's just a really great bag, imo. The leather is sturdy, the size is perfect, large but not too large and seriously it's one of my most versatile bags.  oh but the lining is nothing special, it's just cotton and mine says "kooba" all over the inside.  but yeah, i definitely think you can use it for years to come and i think $600 for that bag is a really good deal because it's leather and it's big and the detailing rocks.  hth!

not sure where you live and what color you want, but the barneys in beverly hills and south coast plaza (the co-op) had the white one on sale for $399.  if you're interested, it wouldn't hurt to give them a call and see if they're still available, and they can probably do a charge send for you.

i don't have an opinion, but if you want it i can probably get it for you for around $225. they are having a sample sale and today they had tons of siennas, and they are supposed to get in another shipment. let me know if you're interested and we can work out the details.

I am definitely tempted to take you up on that offer Honey. Do you remember what colors they had? I'm interested in either a tan color or whitish color. This may be a dumb question, but are the bags at the sample sales new? Do they have any discernible flaws? Thanks.

ETA: Thanks Esquiress! It sounds like it is definitely worth the investment.

the bags are brand new and come wrapped in the plastic, and of course they are authentic. you're actually not allowed to take it out of the plastic until after you purchase it.

i remember seeing a rust color and olive. they also had the embossed ones. i know they are getting another shipment in soon.  i will call the place to confirm when the next shipment comes in and then send you a pm.  i also know i'll be going back at least once (to try and score the bag i want) so i'll keep you posted.

Thanks again, esquiress!  That was really, really cool of you to do for me!

honey, that is so awesome that you can get a Kooba so cheap!  What else is available in these sample sales???  You can shop for me too .

I agree that Kooba is a good bag to keep around for years.  I still love mine to death and wear it all the time and have no plans on replacing it any time soon.

Thanks Drew! It's reassuring to know that you're still in love with yours after a year.

One more question: How does the leather age?

Wonderfully!  I was in a boutique and the sales ladies were all asking me if it was new.  I told them it was over a year old and they said it still looks new, they seemed so amazed.  I am terrible with my bags care-wise.  I just use them and put them on the ground and let them get squished and Kooba has held up and IMO looks as good today as the day I bought it.  The leather has never been cleaned or conditioned and it's as soft today as ever.  Get it!

I'm glad to hear it, Drew. I'm exactly like you - I'm not very good about taking care of my bags, although I should be a little more regiment about it. Now my only problem is deciding if I want a tan color or white color. I think I'd be too scared to get a white bag, although the ivory one is gorgeous.

ETA: That sucks Honey. Thanks for trying though!

Late as always chiming in, but I also have a Kooba sienna in luggage (I think there are posts of it in thread stylefrom a year ago or so).  It's such an awesome bag.  I love it just as much now as I did then.  I plan on keeping it for a really long time.  I dont think you would regret it if you got one.

By the way, I also have the Kooba Scarlett in white (almost identical to the sienna except a little shorter and wider)  and I HARDLY ever carry it.  I'm too afraid it'll get dirty.  A few years ago I bought the MJ Anouk in ivory and though it was the most beautiful bag, it got so filthy after a season I can't even carry it anymore.
HTH.

I have the Kooba Scarlett (same as Sienna, just smaller) in Ivory/Cream and I LOVE it. It's so soft and beautiful and the leather wears very nicely as the other girls said.  I just wanted to pipe in that I carry mine a lot and haven't had any trouble w/it getting dirty at all - it's help up quite nicely.  I just keep if off the floor.  I don't think you could go wrong w/either tan or ivory!

Better late than never! Thanks, that definitely helps. As Chicago said, I can't go wrong with either tan or white.
