Help with finding records
Permalink Closed

Hey all, I need some help. I want to find my father's grave. My mother told me when I was 15 that he had died when I was 13. That means he wuld have died in 1988. All I know is his name. What can I do? I have tried a service like ancestry.com, but nothing is coming up. I don't speak to my mother now, so I don't know if there is any way to get the information.

Any advice?

Thanks!

Even though you don't speak to your mother, is there a way to get the info from her? Maybe write her a letter requesting additional info about your father?

Sorry if this isn't possible, I don't know what your situation is..

Oh, this is totally possible. Heck, I could walk right up to her house. I was hoping there would be another way. I am not even sure if she as any information. I guess I could write her.

OMG! I found it. I did a peoplefinders reporta nd paid the 10 bucks and found it so easily. I even confirmed the family's location with my grandmother. But the report says that he's 53, which means that he would have to be alive, since my mom is 51 now. Shit! Maybe they just don't have a record of his death. She told me he was dead. So did my grandmother. And it lists some other people slightly younger than me, so those are most likely my half-siblings. Ok..I am freaking out now.

Maybe he is still alive? If your mom had reason to not want you to contact him..maybe she said he was dead?

Did you find a phone number or anything?

Yup. It gives me a phone number and last known home address.

Irene: if you want to , you can PM me with questions or fears.  I sought out my birth parents years ago and it was a pretty traumatic experience.  So if you need it, I'm here.

Woah - what shocking news. I was going to suggest a pay site like the one you used but as I read on I saw you already did that. Are you going to call him? What a big thing!

Holy crap! Good luck if you decide to contact him. You must be experiencing a whirlwind of emotions right now.

Well, after speaking to my friend, I think the best thing for me to do is just call. In the immediate future, I just want to find out if he is alive. If he is, then there is a lot of thinking I need to do. If he is not, then that's all I need to really know I guess. I am not sure if I want to contact my siblings or not. Although, it may be nice. I am not sure. But that is down the road.

So I was thinking, I could just call and ask for Michael so and so. If they say he is not there, I could ask when he will be home. I just need to know; is he alive or dead.
