Making mixed drinks at home.

Now that I'm legal (), I'd like to start making some mixed drinks at home. What drinks are easy to make that taste really good. I'm generally a sweeter, fruity drinks kind of person.

Also, what kind of glasses and shaker should I get?

I recommend idrink.com or webtender.com for mixed drink recipes.

My favorite thing though is margaritas both mexican (tequilla & triple sec) and italian (add in a shot of amaretto to the regular margarita).  For a shaker I got a cute stainless one with a blue lid at marshalls for $10 that match my martini glasses I got at Crate & Barrel.

For glass wear I think it just depends on what you like and what you want to drink.  though I do use my martini glasses for margaritas.

For something really sweet I recommend amaretto sours.  They taste like pure candy.  Chocolate martinis are good.  I really like pineapple martinis (sometimes called pineapple upside down).  Sex on the Beach is ok.

Mojitos!  Best drink ever and easy to make.  Just search the web for a recipe or bacardi.com has one on their site.

Margaritas are super easy to make too.  You can even buy those ready to drink ones that you just throw in a blender w/ice.

I also used to love to buy Malibu Rum and mix it w/orange juice or diet coke for a quick drink.

ok, mixed drinks are my specialty since i don't drink beer.  here are my favorites:

Cosmopolitan: 1 oz Stoli  Vodka, 1 oz Cointreau, Small dash Cranberry Juice, Small dash Lime Juice

Seven and Seven: 1 Shot Seagram's 7, 6oz Seven UP, Ice, a Small Lime Wedge

Bailey's and Coffee: 1 Part Bailey's Irish Cream, 1 Part Black Coffee

Chocolate Cake:  2 Parts Vodka, 1 Part Frangelico, 1 Part Cream De Cacao, 1 Part Chocloate Liqueur

Kamakazi: 1 Part Vodka, 1 Part Triple Sec, 1 Part Rosie's Sweetend Lime Juice

And, if you can look it up, Blow Jobs shots.  There are 4 or 5 different recipes for them. And you are supposed to top them with Whipped Cream and shoot them with out using your hands.

This one I added just because it is fun:

Flaming Dr. Pepper: Vodka,  Amarreto,  151 Bacardi Rum,  Dr.Pepper, 1 big glass of beer.           Mix the Dr.Pepper, Vodka, Amaretto, and Bacardi evenly into a double shot glass.  Light it on fire, drop it into the beer.  Chug.

Have Fun

Now I like Captain Morgan w/diet coke and a wedge of lime

Bloody Marys w/ V8 are good too.

for something fruity, I like malibu, pineapple, and cranberry. It "tastes like a cruise" so that's what we call it. No idea if it's a "real" drink or not, but its good!

If you have a blender, you can make a Dirty Banana.  I have no idea what the actual amounts are, so I'm estimating, but you can tinker with the amount of alcohol.

1 banana, ice, 1 shot of rum, 1 shot of rum creme, 1/2 shot of coffee liquer

We drank these all the time in Jamaica and they're SO good.  Once you've blended it, it should have the same kind of consistency as a Wendy's Frosty.
