I know some of you probably have taken the IQ test on the Tickle website before.  It's so called PhD-Certified, but wonder how accurate it really is?

I got a 135, visual mathematician.   I don't know about that considering the answers in the test were rather obvious. Anybody else want to take it to see where you compare to the population?  You will feel pretty smart!  I wanted to challenge my bf on it, but he refuses to take it even though he calls ME dumb all the time!  Here is the link:

I got 133. But I also wonder how accurate it is. Are real IQ tests really that easy?

Uhhh...seriously?  I don't think you're going to get representative numbers on this one--who on earth would actually post if they were average or below?  No one.  And the nature of this thread rubs me the wrong way--it's like asking how much money we all make.

The Mensa test is a timed test that is administered by a Mensa coordinator. The tickle tests are loosely based on the kinds of questions found in a Mensa test, but it's not the same. The Mensa test is much longer and must be completed in two hours or less (kind of like the SAT's, GMAT's or any other standardized test). You must score within the top 98th percentile (top 2% of the population) to become a Mensa member.

Kenzie, thanks for the explanation. I didn't think it was accurate at all. I just took the super IQ test, which is supposed to be more advanced, and got 110. So my IQ dropped over 20 points after I ate my breakfast...LOL!

NCShopper, your point is well taken. Some may feel that the question is intrusive.Yet I don't believe that Cortney meant anything rude by this post. It's just something interesting she saw and wanted to share. In any case we have had polls about salaries before. Some people are more sensitive to it than others. Those who don't want to respond won't and I think everyone is ok with that. Besides, the test is not accurate, so I don't think anyone should be concerned if they get a low score.

I only got 129.  The last time I took this exact test, I was 135, which leads me to the conclusion that I am getting dumer by the day.  I blame my children.

This IQ test has been posted here before.  I don't think it is necessarily accurate, but or less just a fun little quiz like what is sometimes posted.

yeah, well, it may not be accurate, but I'll go with it anyway!

Congratulations, Kris!
Your IQ score is 135

This number is based on a scientific formula that compares how many questions you answered correctly on the Classic IQ Test relative to others.

Your Intellectual Type is Visionary Philosopher. This means you are highly intelligent and have a powerful mix of skills and insight that can be applied in a variety of different ways. Like Plato, your exceptional math and verbal skills make you very adept at explaining things to others — and at anticipating and predicting patterns. And that's just some of what we know about you from your IQ results.

Now, somehow I get the idea that they try to get you excited about your score so you will purchase your whole report.

Below is something I found on another website.  It is NOT true at all!  Just because you work as a laborer it doesn't mean you are stupid!

"Apparently, the IQ gives a good indication of the occupational group that a person will end up in, though not of course the specific occupation. In their book, Know Your Child’s IQ, Glen Wilson and Diana Grylls outline occupations typical of various IQ levels:

140
Top Civil Servants; Professors and Research Scientists.

130
Physicians and Surgeons; Lawyers; Engineers (Civil and Mechanical)

120
School Teachers; Pharmacists; Accountants; Nurses; Stenographers; Managers.

110
Foremen; Clerks; Telephone Operators; Salesmen; Policemen; Electricians.

100+
Machine Operators; Shopkeepers; Butchers; Welders; Sheet Metal Workers.

100-
Warehousemen; Carpenters; Cooks and Bakers; Small Farmers; Truck and Van Drivers.

90
Laborers; Gardeners; Upholsterers; Farmhands; Miners; Factory Packers and Sorters."

These are tons of fun, but aren't IQ tests skewed to favor white men?

I have a HUGE problem with these stereo-types. People (mostly) chose a career because they love it not because their IQ is too low to do something else.

Where did you find this bullshit?

I got 140. Yes! According to an online IQ test that goes by the name of "Tickle," I'm a genius! Oh man, I can't wait to tell Mom.

Good way to kill a few minutes though, that's for sure.

wow, I can't believe that IQ list exists...just because someone has the intellectual capacity to do something like surgery doesn't mean they have to become a surgeon!

I've done these tests before and I've gotten anywhere from 110 to 165, so...um...yeah.

Ok, I had such a strong visceral reaction to that "list" of proposed professions for IQ holders that I couldn't even post because I thought I would be too mean. But I'm testing out saying what I really think now, so here goes:

An IQ test measures how well a person fits into the system that created the IQ test. That is all. So if you do well, good for you. And if you do badly, then presumably you have less in common with the test creators than others, or less familiarity with the test style, or both, or hell, maybe neither. You never know. Results will vary with hormones, weather, sleep level and whatever.

I grew up on welfare. I am NOT the measurably smartest person in my family, in the group of people who went to grade school with me, or even of my fellow employees at Burger King (high school job - one of several held simultaneously). I am the only one who earned a four year degree. Had a career that did not involve manual labor. And went on to grad school (which I hate because of the kind of attitude that perpetuates these tests). If I learned ONE THING in all my years of pulling myself through the socio-economic statrospheres, it's that smart people are completely overrated. You can get something done or you can't. You did or you didn't. Being a good fit with the system can help you do this, but it's not the only way. And it's not foolproof. And the people who work the hardest to fit into the system, the ones who are often measurably the 'smartest' are also often the ones you want to AVOID LIKE HELL because they are motivated by the kind of insecurities that lead to, I don't know, idiotic insitutions/scams like "Who's Who of American High School Students..." God, it makes me laugh cruelly when I see that on a resume...

Anyway, what's the point of all this measuring and comparing and calculating? Sheesh y'all. Like Bluebirde said, it's a fun way to kill some time. That is all.
