Since we're in the middle of vacation season, I thought it would be great if everyone could post some of their favorite places from their hometowns or places they have lived or visited.  This way when the rest of us are traveling we know where the good "hidden gem" places are.  Here are mine:

My hometown (Cincinnati):

Favorite Unique Store-For me it's not a boutique but it is the infamous Gap Clearance center which is actually located in Kentucky near the Cincinnati (CVG) airport.  It stocks Gap, Banana, Forth and Towne and Old Navy stuff and there are always tremendous bargains to be found.

Favorite Restaurants-Mongomery Inn for ribs, Skyline chili for cheap food, LaRosa's Pizza for pizza, Pigall's for fine dining (or any Jeff Ruby restaurant), Mt. Adams Bar and Grille for casual, and the Blind Lemon for drinks (sooo cute!).

Recommended Hotels-Downtown the Cincinnatian or the Hilton (art-deco hotel-very unique).

Favorite Shopping Areas-Rookwood or Kenwood Towne Center.

Fun Things to Do-Attend one of the many Catholic church festivals (so fun!), Mount Adams for dining and bar-hopping, visit one of the many great museums the city has to offer, Kings Island amusement park.

I'm so glad that you mentioned this!!! I totally forgot about it!! I'm from the area, and I'm going home to see my family this weekend. I've been having a bit of a shopping problem lately, in that I need a huge load of new clothes but not the energy or the funds to do the amount of shopping I need to. I love clothes from all of those stores and was going to suck it up and go to all of the regular stores tomorrow.... but now I'll hold out for the weekend and hopefully stretch my budget and patience a lot further :)

Hey, do they carry Gap and ON maternity clothes?  I'll be up to see my mom in August and we always go shopping in Cinci (also love Kenwood) and if they do have maternity then we'll have to go for sure.

5. Koobo's (Sushi) great atmosphere and really good sushi
6. Kolache Factory- best breakfast food ever!!!!
7. Lupe Tortilla - great for families.  Kids play while parents visit all in visible sight
8. Michaelangelos - best Italian

2. Westin Galleria - if you want to stay in the middle of the Galleria

4. The Mall at the Woodlands if you just want beautiful scenery and a little bit of outdoorsyness to your shopping experience
5. Katy Mills - Off Saks, Last Call (Neiman's), BR, and Gap outlet (the outlet at San Marcos is much better though)

Favorite Places to go:
1. Alley Theatre for Plays and the Houston Ballet
2. Houston Zoo
3. Herman Park in the Museum District - very pretty and close to the museums and Imax
4. Memorial Park
5. Dave and Busters
6. Kemah Boardwalk just to get out and see the gulf

Oh girl-do they ever!  They have a TON of Gap and ON maternity clothes.  Great prices too (most items $6.99).  I remember getting black Gap maternity pants there for 49 cents when I was pregnant the last time.  Now I can't promise deals that good but it is definitely worth a road trip if you are ever remotely close.  You can PM me for directions if you do get a chance to go.  They have lots of great baby clothes as well.  I swear by that place!
