Okay, I wore flip flops last Thursday and walked 2 miles somewhere in them, steady walking the whole way too. This created 2 lovely blisters, one on each foot. I drained the one, and Neosporined both for a couple of days. After that, I let them dry out a little bit.
As of now, they're pretty much healed, but not 100%. The spots are still red (but not sore) and the new skin that formed during healing is that shiny look that healing cuts, etc. get.
Now, I want to wear my flip flops again this Saturday, but because the new skin is relatively new and shiny, and the spots are still red, I'm a little afraid of the flips re-creating blisters.
Normally, I can walk in my flip flops all over malls, etc, no problems hurting or anything, so these blisters were just a result of a steady 2 mile walk.
I also know that I probably shouldn't wear the flips until they're fully healed, but I don't like any of my other shoes for this outfit.
My question is: If I applied some of the Band-Aid liquid bandage, would that protect the new skin in the blister area, from my flip flops? I know Band-Aids would, but my flip flops rub those right off my foot, even the fabric ones.
you're going to laugh, but i PROMISE it works. when i was doing volunteer work for a week last summer, i got a blister the first HOUR of raking. the guide said to put duct tape on it, and sure enough, it went away in a day (and this was while raking for 6 hours a day!). ever since then, when i get a blister, i just put duct tape on it, and it goes away. there's something about the adhesive they use in duct tape.
ETA: maybe you can use the duct tape leading up to the event if you don't want to wear it with sandals. i'm not kidding, the blister might even be gone by the time the event rolls around.
