Baby gift from B&M stores...
Permalink Closed

I'm meeting a friend for lunch tomorrow and I have to give her a baby shower gift. (I missed her shower last weekend and wanted to take her out to lunch.) Only, I was planning on next week so I could have the weekend to get a gift. But she just emailed me and is available tomorrow.

I want to get a diaper bag or tote bag or something useful to put the gifts in. I'm planning on buying a book on getting the newborn on a sleeping schedule (according to my sil and her mom friends, it's essential), some baby aquaphor (on her registry), and something else...

Any ideas on where to find a relatively inexpensive but cute tote/diaper bag at a b&m store?

Also, what else should I put in the package? Any suggestions? I'm thinking about a cute little t-shirt from a local hipster boutique. It's not terribly useful but hella cute.

It's a boy and she's due early August.

TIA!

I always find tons of super cute baby stuff at Marshall's, Burlington, and Target.

I can get to Target fairly easily. What do you suggest I get (other than the bag)?

hmmm, well I was at a baby shower last weekend and some cuter things were: little baby slipper, fun bottles (they make some super cute ones now), a pacifier thermemeter (this was actually a huge hit with the mom to be!). I bet if you walk around you'll find tons of stuff that you would never enen think of...it IS target after all.

Honestly, I wouldn't bother with cute bottles or anything like that.  They may or may not be useful depending on how she's choosing to feed, etc.

The paci/thermometer sounds neat though - useful and she won't be getting a boatload of them.

Target also has these Robeez knock-off shoes - very baby-trendy popular, and only $13:

Infants’ Circo® Leather Shoes - Navy DinoInfants’ Circo® Leather Shoes - Black SportInfants’ Circo® Leather Shoes - Blue Dog

Some other ideas:  A mesh feeder (for when the babe is a tad older), the ocean wonders aquarium has gotten good reviews from moms of younger babies:

Fisher Price Ocean Wonders Aquarium

This is great sleep book - probably more useful for a newborn than the stricter sleep-system book, which are meant for older babies:

The Happiest Baby on the Block : The New Way to Calm Crying and Help Your Newborn Baby Sleep Longer

Have you reviewed their registry to see what's left?  You could probably find some of the things on there (or very similar things, at least) at Target, and that way you'd know it was something they needed .....

That's one of the books I'm getting! I'm also getting this book:

This is the one my SIL and her mom friends swear by. I figure between the two of them, she's bound to find some good tips.

Those shoes look really cute too. I printed out her Target list, so I'm going to stock up on some of the smaller things no one's gotten her from that, too. I guess that ought to be enough, right? I went out to some cuter boutiques a few minutes ago looking for a cool tote/diaper bag (doesn't have to be a diaper bag, a tote would do) to put everything in but I couldn't find anything. I may just stick with a box or a basket or something for that.
