The Wedding Invite - I'm confused...

There are 3 invitations in the invite booklet thing. The first one essentially lists the schedule and places for both days. Then there's an individual invite for each ceremony in a traditional wedding invitation type form.


Here's the first one:
August 18, 2006
Breakfast 7-8
Wedding Ceremony 8:30 - 11:30 (The 2nd invite says Muhurtham: 9:00 - 10:30, Kanya Lagnam)
Cocktail Reception 11:30-12:30
Luncheon 12:30-4:30


August 19, 2006
Lunch 11:00-12:30
Wedding Ceremony 3:00-4:00
Cocktail Reception 4:15-6:00
Cocktail Reception 6:30-7:30
Dinner Dance 7:30-11:00


Sounds pretty extensive, right? For anyone that might know, what is the Muhurtham?


it seems like Friday and Saturday are pretty booked, although I know we can leave earlier than 4:30 on the first day. I guess we'll just have to do all the NYC things we want to do/see on Thursday afternoon, Friday evening/afternoon, and Sunday. I'm getting pretty excited about it though. I'm hoping I can convince the boy that going to both ceremonies will be fun (considering he doesn't know anyone there).

i'm not sure.. but I googled and i think that Kanya Lagnam and Muhurtham refer to the auspicious time.. Hindus focus a lot on astrology/timing/etc so sometimes the exact time a couple should get married (based on their charts) is figured out and that is when the wedding happens...


it does sound pretty extensive... but if you wanted to cut down on waking up early/time spent you could skip the breakfasts pretty easily i would assume?

Holy long wedding weekend batman!

All I can think is that this must be costing them a freaking fortune! I don't mean to be ugly & I know a person's wedding is important to them & all - but that seems like a lot to ask of guests. Sorry I can't be of any help at all & I've kept my mouth shut so far but I can't believe that!


Let me know the fun stuff you get to do while you are there & if i need to add something else cool to my "to do" list when we go in November....
