I love it, so creative. It also looks really soft and high quality (made of calf leather).
Created by German designer Ilke Penzilien in 2001, it mimics the plain plastic bags used in stores throughout Germany, right down to the punched-out crescent handle and bottom placket.
It was sold at a furniture store in Berlin where the designer was working.
Only five were made before it was discontinued due to the expense of creating it.
Then a miracle happened.
The bag reappeared.
It's now sold for $195 at Opening Ceremony in New York City's SoHo district. (35 Howard Street Basement, New York, 10013; 212-219-2688)
I first saw it on this girl. I love the way she dresses:
The concept is interesting, but I just wonder if it would get annoying (I am shoulder purse kind of gal). I also wonder if there are compartments on the inside of this bag bc if not, you could lose alot of stuff in there...
That's a hot looking bag. I love it. Very simple yet modern. I think they guy who actually found the guy who made the Fluo Bag...works in New York. Klaus Biesenbach...I wonder if he had anything to do with bringing it back. I think the NY times once said the bag was spendy to make. If it's only $195...does that mean someone else is now making it? I wonder....very cool, though.
