Well, bluefly.com recently started listing some "it" bags, balenciagas, fendi spies, paddingtons, and silverados. People at tFs were touting the balenciagas especially as being fakes, and it seems someone at the purse forums bought one of the balenciagas and it was indeed a fake.

They're also saying there's been some questionable manolos as well. So, just a warning to anyone who was considering buying!

They also changed their international shipping policy, and use a carrier comerxia or something. International orders are now charged US shipping + International shipping, and coupon codes do not apply to them. @#^$ you bluefly!

I think it's all bullshit.  A company of Bluefly's size is not going to participate in counterfeit goods as it would completely shut them down as a company - and they're huge.

I personally, have bought 100% authentic with holograms/certificates, Jimmy Choo, Chanel, Fendi (small spy), Manolo shoes, Jimmy Choo shoes, etc. from Bluefly.  I can prove it with pictures and receipts.

I love Bluefly and wouldn't believe in a million years that they are selling counterfeit goods.  My suspicion is that those who are spouting this nonsense have never even touched one of those bags let alone bought one and discovered it was fake.

there's a lot of paranoid, negative, ignorant people with a herd mentality out there - I would go by what you know, not what you read on internet forums.

Overview

Bargain broker Bluefly is flying anywhere but into the red. The company offers excess and closeout apparel and home accessories for men, women, and teens via its Web site at prices it claims are 30%-75% cheaper than retail. The site carries more than 37,000 styles from more than 350 labels, including Prada and Calvin Klein. Former chairman Ken Seiff founded the company in 1991 as Pivot Rules to sell golf apparel to young golfers. It discontinued its golf sportswear line and sold its Pivot Rules trademarks to make the transition to an off-price e-tailer. The Bluefly.com site was launched in 1998. Financier George Soros owns 75% of Bluefly.

OK, just read your thread on the Bluefly return policy - which really, really sucks.

I have question though (not to threadjack!) but were you permanently banned from buying from them? or is it a ban for a certain amount of time? That just seems absurd that they'd permanently ban customers. ..

I have heard of fake fendi's from bluefly, not because bluefly is intentionally selling fakes, but that customers buy bags and return fake ones, and the bluefly reps are not savvy enough to know the difference...I could see this happening for some of their other designer items

I can't imagine that a company like Bluefly would want to get mixed up with the counterfeit business. It just wouldn't be profitable to them and the consequences could be disastrous. I'm sure ppl pull all kinds of ridiculousness in terms of trying to defraud the company through the returns policy-- maybe that's how some of the fakes get through?

On a related note, I cannot believe that thread about Bluefly banning people who return too much ! That is ridiculous and such a bad way to conduct business. I'm still feeling pissy about my last ordering experience with them. I ordered an evening gown from them on very short notice for an event I had to attend. The gown arrived totally crumpled (I understand some crumpling due to packaging but this was totally unacceptable) and had deodorant stains on it! I was so appalled-- the dress clearly looked used. And it wasn't cheap. I sent it back and since it was such late notice and I live in the middle of nowhere, I had nothing to wear for my event. To their credit, they refunded my shipping costs too but it was still really disappointing.

I think the result of fakes on bluefly is probably from people switching the real thing for their fakes when they return.  Same thing happens with macys/saks/nordstrom when it comes to jeans.  I've read on multiple websites that people switch out their fakes by returning them for the real thing at these places. You just have to be careful and return the item if you find a problem.

Take it for what it's worth I guess.. Alot of the ladies at PF are "experts" with their balenciaga bags and they are the ones reporting getting fake b-bags from Bluefly...

Big reputable companies too can practice shady business ethics--- see Enron.

I think that the buyers bought some fake bags, maybe through people returning fakes to department stores, and Bluefly refuses to accept that they are fakes, so they keep relisting them. Anyways, I trust my fellow consumer more then I trust a company that's after my dollar.

I'm 100% sure that people are scamming bluefly.  When you have worked retail you would be amazed what people do!  Example: They buy a $100 fake, spend $800 for the real thing from Bluefly, and return the fake to Bluefly and get their $800 back.

Bluefly should really set up a system to prevent fradulent returns or they may come across big trouble.

i agree, i think recently bluefly has gone downhill.  the truth is, they probably do have some people scamming them, but they are losing honest customers in the process.  i noticed that before, their merchandise would be last season at least, and now they have some of the items that are currently for sale and neiman's at 30-40% (plus an additional 10% w/code), for only 20% off.  THANKS FOR THE DISCOUNT BLUEFLY.

when i got a nice bag from active endeavors they had a huge tag on it and the bag couldn't be returned without the tag.  i think bluefly should implement this as well as having someone who specializes in authenticating (is that a word) returned merchandise.  if they're making $58.8 million in sales a year then they should be able to add some people to the team to help prevent the return of fakes.

overall i'm disappointed with their discounts.  for example i know that bcbg's merchandise is 50% - 70% off at the outlets, why would i take a 30%-40% discount from bluefly when the bcbg outlet will ship me the item for $5-$10)?

they do offer products that can sometimes be hard to find if you can't go to every neimans, saks, sale or outlet, but i guess i just had better luck with them a couple years ago when they started their discounts at 40%.

it seems the two issues could be correlated--maybe their obnoxious return policy is in response to people defrauding them by returning fake bags and other merch? Shopgirl82's idea is smart.
