I recently realized that I majorly need to reinvigorate my work wardrobe.
I work at a large law firm in NYC. Technically, we are business casual, but people definitely err on the conservative and dressier side. So our business casual is very different from other business casual environments. For example, nobody would wear chinos, even on Friday in the summer. (I always think of chinos as the epitome of business casual, but not so much at my office).
I have plenty of suits, but especially now that summer is here, I would like to work more non-suit outfits into my wardrobe. And stuff that is more fashionable rather than basic and conservative. And short-sleeved but still fairly dressy.
Skirts and dresses are easy, but I am having trouble finding nice tops to go along with them. Everything seems to be too trendy to be conservative enough, or is a long-sleeved sweater which is too hot for summer.
Can anyone recommend some nice short-sleeved basics that aren't too too weekendy? I feel like a tee that is structured and refined enough would be fine under a cardigan, but I have had trouble finding tees that are not too casual.
Any other suggestions?
Any recommendations for stores besides the obvious (J. Crew, Banana etc.) where I should be looking?
yeah i'm having this same problem. No real suggestion though. BR has a cute looking button up short sleeve shirt I am thinking about getting. If I see anything at the mall this weekend I'll let you know.
I know this top is from Anthro, but I can't seem to find it on the site, can anyone help me out?
